Non permanent coverings for booths in a function room

    Hi there.

I have taken on the task of completly transforming a very tired, dreary function room into an elegant room for my mother's birthday party. It's the location and pub she wants but unfortunately the room is horrendous! I am going to drape the walls/ceilings and do diy fairy light backdrops. I will hire chair covers for the individual seats in the room.

My big problem is, the room has booth style seating all the way around one wall. This is a disgusting dark colour and also very worn. How do I go about transforming these with covers to match the chair covers? Also without costing an arm and a leg... I know it's a big ask!

    Any ideas?!

    Tia

Maybe just get some cushions to liven it up.
If your man likes the p,ace she's probably not bothered either way :)

As I have mentioned above, it's the location and pub my mam wants. She doesn't like the room hence trying to do it up for her...

Do you need the booths? Screen them off with wooden or material screens.

Tbh unless you are going to spend a huge amount of money it's hit or miss if it'll look better. It's important you get consistency in theme and material I. E. If you are doing fairy lights you need to do them everywhere. If you are draping/dressing walls you need same material and do the whole room.

If it was me I'd not bother with fairy lights/drapings as you've said. Instead I'd spend money on bunches of helium balloons (you can buy party packs from companies) which will uplift the room and distract the eye.

    Good luck.

P.s. what are you actually doing with the fairy lights? Imo they only look good when wrapped on tulle and swagged around the room.

    Be aware of fire regs.
Did something similar and got closed down by the local fire officer.
Event went ahead but all the decorations had to come down. Possibly unlucky, but in respsect of the drapes (muslim) he was correct.

The pics below are like the backdrop I'm making for the stage at the moment. I'm going to make drapes for walls and ceilings from organza material. I've also hired uplighters for the corners of the room. Personally, I don't think the fairylights need to be everywhere if they are subtlety placed and not over done. Your suggestion is good about panelling the booths off but it would immediately make the room much smaller and less seating too.

If you got material like what throws are made out of, could you tuck it uner the edges of what's there?

These look good op. If I were you I'd do this plus the uplighters plus balloon bundles (in silver and white) and leave it at that.

    Enjoy the party!

Oh! What about swags of tulle across the back of the booths.
    (White tulle)

Or a big tulle bow attached to each booth (I. E. On the dividing wall between each booth).
    (White tulle)

I wouldn't go hiring chair covers if I were you! Too weddingy.

I agree with the others, don't drape the walls, you will almost certainly be breaching fire regs. I agree with the others, your stage set is lovely, but otherwise go for lots of balloons and flowers, tablecloths or table covers of some sort. Could you also do some lighting that will focus on the tables and leave the walls in a certain amount of shadow?

Wondering , did you manage to create the backdrop as per the attached pics. I'm looking to do something similar for a home party and would be interested to know where you sourced the material for the backdrop from .

    Thanks,
