    Death to all but metal.

Well, metal and some of those 80s tunes.

    And Buddy Holly.

Tony Iommi - true legend and Iron Man

Who'd have thought losing a fingertip would invent an entire genre!

    What about this lads?

    Holy bejesus I'm so excited.

Speaking of Lem, I was thinking the other day how Dick and Dom used to end their Saturday Morning BBC1 Show by playing Ace of Spades while everyone threw muck at each other. Every Week.

Nice to see the kids getting some musical education (9 mins 10)

    No cameras allowed, apparently.

Best thing in the world ever.

My local Pirate/Community radio station used to have their own Top Ten

It was usually similar to Larry's ... except Iron Maiden were always in our Top 10. Every week. Without fail.

It made me quite proud. Even though I wasn't really into Maiden. But I did like their artwork.

    Nope. It's all a bit secret-y.

Now, I should mention I'm getting most of my info from the GNR thread right here on Boards. :D

Yellow Pearl sounds great as the new TOTP theme ... it was an inspired choice.

Good ole Madness - never boring :)

Richard Coles of the Communards - now a priest  :D

Down with this sort of thing, etc.

Just reading a blog by Andrew Collins on the enduring appeal of TOTP on BBC Four ... one of the comments mentioned a recent tweet by BBC Four that they are trying to rush through both the 1981 and 1982 episodes this year.

This would indeed appear to be the case

    https://tellyaddict.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/stop-of-the-pops/

    https://twitter.com/BBCFOUR/status/708264405348311041

So that's why they are doing do many double weeks, even though there are quite a few non-repeatable shows. That'll be 1983 and 1984 next year then, if they keep going.

According to the folks at TV Cream, "we quietly get the first play for one of the most famous records of the decade".

Presumably, that's Soft Cell's "Tainted Love".

However, another song quietly getting its first play in this episode is UB40's "One in Ten". It may not have been quite as successful as "Tainted Love", but it's almost as famous and is certainly a very important song for its era:

I'm assuming it's Wyman's classic "Je suis un rock star"

Pale Rider is on TG4 tonight at 9.35pm, I know that's nothing to do with anything but it's weird how the music in that film's trailer is ...

... the Channel 4 News theme!

No way, I used to love their TV Show.

TV was strictly rationed in our house! Saturday Swap Shop or TOTP was the height of it - if we'd been good that week!
