    Bit frustrated here

Been working away from the office the last few days and using the S7 (on Three network*) as a mobile hotspot. Here's my problem: The phone will display the '4G' signal but when I go to set up the hotspot it almost always drops the '4G' for 'H' and then Edge. In normal use it does periodically drop 4G as you'd expect on any network. But I find when I setup the hotspot and connect my laptop to it the phone seems to drop 4G very soon after.

And when the wifi hotspot is running on '4G' the speeds are crap... Download Speed of 1.34Mbps, Upload Speed of 0.36Mbps. Are is that normal?

Anyone else having issues using it as a wifi hotspot?

*Phone is on PAYG with Three with all you can eat 4G data.

The same. Three is woeful. Ditched them for that very reason. Sticking with Vodafone for now. They might be expensive for data but their 4G just works whether you are tethering, using it as a hotspot etc..

My Samsung s7 is frozen on the boot screen. I've tried recovery mode and rebooting it to no avail. It is less than a week old! Any ideas?

Has anyone tried to connect their S7 to a BMW? I can't get it to work with the BMW Connected App no matter what I try.

I wouldnt be in a rush to replace an S6. Im comming from a HTC M7 and although the S7 is a much better phone, for the most part it does an identical job, no faster and no better than my old phone.

My M7 is 26 months old with a battery that lasts about 2 hours so I had no choice but to replace but i would quite happily have kept it for another year if that hadnt happened.

The S7 has water resistance, a good fingerprint reader and a few little bits and bobs but its not lifechanging, or revolutionary in smartphone terms so unless you absolutely need a new phone I advise taking the 400+ quid you would have to put along with what you get for your S6 & either save it or spend it on a weekend away or a great weekend out having fancy dinners and dinks, or some other treat that you will actually notice and enjoy.

Looks interesting for sure, il have to give it a go. Im not fully for all of this high level of customization though. Ive tried a few launchers and the best ive found was HTC Sense as its just so unobtrusive. It lets android do what it does well, but also tidies up little things and just makes everything a little easier.

It has a built in tiny app store icon in its settings bar so no need to take up space with an app store icon on the home screen. its search is a bit smoother to use, its widgets are well thought out. I really miss the weather alarm clock from HTC, simple to use and highly functional. Samsung has nothing comparable.

Nova is quite good also, best alternative for anything non-htc. Im really giving sense a go as i now have a galaxy tab and the S7 but its losing me, and i dont think even more settings, app drawers and paradigm shifts are going to make it easier. It needs to just work, I shouldnt have to spend time learning its idiosyncrasies.

Normally I can't stand flip over covers but this is a work phone that I'll be throwing around the place and as much as I can't stand flip covers I really really really can't stand glass protectors since I had 1 that scratched an old phone of mine, I got this case and I really can't fault it http://www.spigen.co.uk/cell-phone/samsung/galaxy-s7-edge/galaxy-s7-edge-case-wallet-s.html

All the curved glass ones that came out for the S6 Edge were pants, so I expect this to be the same situation for the S7 Edge. That's the consensus on XDA forums where there was a monster thread for months with the S6 Edge and in the end most people just gave up and went with a plastic protector as the glass one didn't cover the screen fully, interfered with the touchscreen, lifted on the corners, attracted dust along the edges or had a horrible rainbow effect.

Having said that Zaag are promising an Invisible Shield Glass Curve and are asking people to register their interest. Might be worth a shot though I have found the Zaag glass products to be way too brittle, but at least they have lifetime warranty and if bought in carphone warehouse they will replace on the spot if they have stock, instead of having to email the damaged one back to Zaag.

doesn't drain on mine, i use it regularly and i still get 5-6 hours of screen on time with mobile data always on.

on the other hand any of you guys noticed the plastic that covers the flash and health reader? mine already has a scratch on it do you know it there is a plastic film protecting it or just the plastic lens itself?

Has anyone bought an S7 Edge on prepay from one of the CPW Samsung Experience stores? €800 on Meteor - just wondering if they're locked or not?

I tried last week and it was a no go. Argos are 766 unlocked. Can be had cheaper through Amazon if you don't mind waiting a few days.

The main thing that annoys me with 3 is that I'm on their most expensive monthly contract, and their network is crippled by people on low tariff PAYG tethering constantly and crippling the network.

Your more expensive contract buys you many things such as extra free minutes to call x number of networks, addons such as cheap roaming, and a cheaper initial outlay on a phone.
It doesnt guarantee you a better quality of network connection, thats the same for all users.
