My maternal granddad had boxed sets of VHS tapes of The Two Ronnies, Morcombe and Wise, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson, and loads of other old comics I would otherwise never have heard of, and some of my earliest memories are of sitting on Granddads knee while he laughed his rumbly belly laugh at some old shows. To be honest, they were mostly too old fashioned for me to be interested in at the time, but I do appreciate them more now.

Anyone who could make my granddad laugh like that is alright by me. RIP.

    Fork Handles!

I was aware of the Two Ronnies but was before my time and only recently started going back and watching the DVDs.

    That Mastermind sketch is genius.

    "What's a jockstrap?"

    "A nutcase".

Unsettling. I had only just watched him recently on you tube in "Would I lie to you" And strangely I had only been watching Paul Daniels just before the news about him too. I think I should stop using You Tube.

Seemed a nice guy. Some good sketches like the all famous Four Candles. Probably more from my parents era than mine though.

    Funny story about Ronnie...

I was Oxford St one evening, well, I say I was on oxford St, actually I was just turning onto oxford St, having just been at a bakery on Bond St where they sold the most delightful cheesecake. A woman from Cumbria it was that owned it and her and her daughter ran the place having bought it after the untimely death of her husband in a rodeo accident in Spain...

    Anyway I digress...

There I was turning onto oxford st when a cab comes around the corner. I remember thinking thatvit was travelling a bit fast, 30mph being the speed limit in central London at the time. They'd changed it 3 years earlier, but even so, I remarked to no one in particular that someone was in a hurry.

Anyway, as I turned away from the cab I saw a woman dropping her ice cream cone to the floor. A 99, I'd imagine, with a flake and some of that red too swirled around the ice cream part. It was quite a funny incident. Just then, a dog came over and started licking it up. As I chuckled I caught the lady's eye and saw that she wasn't as amused as I was and as I looked away, my eyes met the window of Curry's which had several TVs in the window showing repeats of the two Ronnie's.

    RIP Ronnie.

My mam only told me the news about him a few minutes ago. I didn't expect it at all tbf.

He was a wonderful entertainer who had brought a great sense of wit and joy to everyone around him. I will miss him as one of the other Two Ronnies as he was one of the greatest legends in his comedy era.

    R.I.P. Ronnie Corbett :(.

You know, for a little guy he bucked the trend didn't he? Let's be honest here he was small in stature and that matters in showbiz. Fair dues to him for getting on with it. Talent outshines everything though I suppose.

    May he rest in peace.

Was Ronnie Corbett in Teletubbies, the animated show? It is being reported all over the Irish media. RTE, Independent.ie, Irish Mirror... But no where else. Not on his Wikipedia. No where.

Actually a search there reveals that there never was an animated Teletubbies. But it's in several Irish based tributes. Obviously one of them had the obit up first and then the rest just paraphrased it, like a college essay. I had a look on his Wikipedia page and there isn't any mention of a teletubby related edit in the past few hours.

Was it some sort of joke he wanted done posthumously? Once I'm dead, make sure all the Irish news websites read that I played the part of Po in Teletubbies? An early inappropriate jump on April Fool's Day?

Oh No! I only just heard a few minutes ago... hadn't the news on at all today...

I have the lovely memory of actually meeting him in summer of 2011 when I was in London with my daughter.

We took a trip to Harrods just to show her what a proper department store looked like and on the way out as we took the escalator to ground level who should walk in the door only the great little fella himself, I was both shocked and delighted all at once and as he walked towards me to take the escalator all I could think to say was "Language Timothy! " (Google it)

Ronnie gave me a broad genuine smile and said "Sorry Mother " and hopped past me, even though I am middle aged man I got such a thrill to meet the guy and had the dumbest beaming smile on my face for ages afterwards...I tried to explain to my daughter just how much of a legend that little fella was but she just didn't wanna know sadly...RIP Mr Corbett a true legend indeed...

Part of my childhood. I remember me and my pals laughing about Piggy Malone and Charley Farley in the playground in primary school in about 1975. Jesus, I'm ancient.
    RIP Ronnie
