Buying a power shower in UK

Hi

Would you be able to tell me if there is any reason why one shouldn't buy a power shower in the UK for use in the republic - ie are the fittings the same size ?

For a mains fed shower
Connecting to the shower you would use a 15mm compression,on the other end of this you would change the olive to 1/2 inch irish and away you go ,I have 2 mains fed triton showers from UK and they were where just over £60 sterling each and work fine no problems but as I said this was for a mains fed shower

Im not 100% sure on this but I think all the fittings, joints, etc are all standard these days. I bought a set of kitchen sink mixer taps in N.I. last year and I asked the question if there was any additional pieces I needed and was told that it made no difference where I lived.

Bought them, took them home and the plumber had them fitted in a few minutes

The only real issue is that triton UK and triton Ireland are different companies. They are actually called Earthridge here in Ireland. Your UK bought shower will have no warranty in Ireland. Even outside the 2 year warranty period triton Ireland don't stock and refuse to order parts for showers not intended for the Irish market.

What make and model shower are you looking for?

Do you recommend a manual control one or thermostatic or are they the same thing?

Thermostatic is the way to go. I don't fit manual showers anymore. On a vigour or even a triton as2000 you are only talking 10 or 20 Euro of a difference.
