I don't want to actually buy a waffle maker... What are my options?

I'm guessing that potato waffles don't count :pac:

You can get a waffle maker in Argos for only £29.99- think of it as an investment!

Alternatively there are bound to be plenty of cafes and waffle houses that you can go to for Waffle Day and sample their wares.

I'm sure potato waffles have their place; you could have them for dinner on Waffle day followed by waffles for dessert. :D

I have one of those multi-use grills with different plates. We only ever use the griddle one to make toasted sandwiches. The other two make doughnuts and waffles. I think the waffle one was used once, and I don't think I was impressed with the results. I'll have to whip it out for Waffle Day, now officially the second most wonderful time of the year!

I think I'll be going out for waffles, I don't want to buy a piece of kitchen equipment that I'll only use once a year and will just take up valuable cupboard space.

Mmmmm waffles though... Swedish people have the best ideas!

You can buy ready made sweet waffles in Lidl and Aldi. Egg and Belgian style.

I've just realised that Waffle Day is the same day as Christmas 2!

Is one of the Christmas forum posters actually John Lithgow in disguise? :pac:

You caught me. Now you just have to wonder if the waffles will make us fly or just explode if we leave them by the radiator.

If anyone is looking for a waffle maker, Lidl will have one from Monday.

We went for brunch during the week and I had pre-Waffle Day waffles for dessert. They were most excellent.

I was just looking at this on Pinterest...

PUFF PASTRY + CARAMEL + MARSHMALLOWS WAFFLES:
    1. Roll out a piece of puff pastry dough so it's in a thin rectangle that's about double the length of your waffle maker. Spray your waffle maker with cooking spray, and lay the puff pastry so one of the short edges touches the inside of your waffle maker.
    2. Put three or four caramels in each section of your waffle maker.
    3. Put one marshmallow on top of each caramel.
    4. Fold over the excess puff pastry so it covers your caramels and marshmallows. Gently press down on the edges.
    5. Close your waffle maker, and use a knife to trim the excess puff pastry dough.
    6. Waffle until the puff pastry is golden brown, about 5 - 7 minutes, depending on your waffle maker.
    7. Delight in the flakey carameley goodness.

It was amazing! I used this waffle recipe (I halved it and it was plenty for 2) and topped it with a scoop of Haagen Dazs and sauce made with equal amounts of chocolate and cream and a knob of butter. Stuffed now.

With rather good luck I happened to pass a waffle shop on Friday, so this was how I celebrated it:

(That's peanut butter ice cream and dark chocolate)
