Ken being Ken isn't a bad thing and it's good to hear other points of view anyway. All he did was challenge the conventional wisdom in the manner we've come to know and love. I think he made some good points that you wouldn't usually get to hear.

It's not so much his opinions that irk me sometimes it's more how he states them with absolute certainty. Particularly on things like this where there is no way of knowing what would have happened without the Rising. No issue with him thinking the Rising was a big mistake and dragged Ireland down a dark path, it's his certainty that it was the worst option and not doing it would have resulted in something far better that gets to me. The most common opinion on that time is we were heading for Civil War one way or another so the only thing you can pin on the Rising is that it got us there a little quicker.

I've no problem with people offering alternative histories and hypothesizing on what could/should have been but when there are so many possible outcomes in a situation like this one it's his attitude that gets to me.

Although as someone pointed out the first part of the discussion may well have been him trying to wind Murph/the listeners up.

It'll be in or around the time of the NBA playoffs, I think?

I hope Golden State don't make it that far, just so they have to talk about someone else :D

The Warriors are having the best season of any NBA team ever, and are oncourse to eclipse Jordan and Pippens 97' Bulls team that won 72 games in the regular season. Pretty sure they'll still be in the playoffs when the boys jet off. They're going to Brooklyn though right? Both New York teams are terrible, funnily enough the Brooklyn Nets have the bleakest short to middle term future of any team in the NBA right now.

What dates did they say they were going? Playoffs start on the 16th April, shock early loss for the Warriors could happen..... maybe?

The Nets are Jay Z's team, yeah?

The lads will be back from America by the time the Playoffs start, how many times will Eoin mention the bleedin' Splash Brothers before they head off.

Jay Z had shares in the team for a long time, and was instrumental in their move from New Jersey to Brooklyn. He was the face of the ownership group for years, although his stake was quite small. He sold it in 2013, when he entered the agency game. NBA rules state that you can't be a players agent and have a stake in a team. Jay Z counts Kevin Durant, one of the best players in the league as a client. He also represents Jerome Boateng.

If it was back in my college days it would probably make a great ring tone for one of the lads I used to live with....who sounded similar when sober!!

Ahaha, Des Bishop at the end of today's podcast: "Yiz got too big for your boots!" :pac: :pac:

It was funny how uncomfortable that made Eoin.

Christ that Duddy fella can talk, good thing they didn't have him and Bishop on at the same time, my head would probably melt listening to the two of them talking at 100 MPH at the same time.

    Also Dr. Ronaldo :pac:

It doesn't get much more country than Murph comparing the Sunday Game to mass.

The last 30 seconds of the football podcast made me spit coffee everywhere. Des Bishop you legend.

Actually Murph made a great point when talking about The Sunday Game, that people take analysis too seriously, online you'd see people tie themselves in knots over the most trivial utterances the likes of Dunphy or Brolly make.

Even Ken playing Devil's advocate about Leicester's sucess this year hasn't annoyed me in fact it's quite funny especially with Richie taking the piss out of him.

In the football podcast yesterday when discussing the popularity of soccer in the United States, they mentioned Americans becoming hardcore fans of English teams etc.

Do we know what clubs Ken, Eoin and Murph support?

We know Murph is Man U, from the Ince2O poster he had in his room. Interestingly, it's only this week when Ken was ribbing McDevitt about wearing a Man U hat, we found out that he was a United fan. We're left to presume Ken is a Marseille man through and through.

Ken strikes me as a person who would support Leeds.

Someone mentioned here that Ken is a liverpool fan?

I knew Eoin was a Utd head, but I wasn't aware about murph being ditto.

He has never directly admitted it, but he is.

    Oi, Gerry Thornley!

It depends on your Irish accent. 'Connot' would be an Ulster accent.

Same bloke that talks about rugby, but calls it rub-by.

Although I do like Gerry, limited as my tolerance for rugby talk may be.

While we're talking about Rugby, has Murph jumped off the Leinster bandwagon yet and returned to his native province.

When they eventually get around to covering what's been happening in Connacht (and that time that Gerry Thornley and Simon Hick just couldn't get their heads around the pretty straight forward qualification system for next years Champion's Cup doesn't count) it's going to be like one of those Irish Cricket team sections they used to do every three or four years.

They've covered Connacht a number of times recently.

Well yeah, there's not a hell of a lot else to cover on the rugby segment.

Can someone explain this to me? I was listening to the podcast and didn't get it really, as I've been out of the country a few years.

    Was their TV show cancelled?

He was making reference to the tail-end of their Off The Ball days, on Newstalk. To this day I'm not entirely sure who was to blame or what exactly went down between themselves and the station, but they were off the airwaves in an awful hurry that's for sure!
