It's not leave, it's flexible working. The hours will be made up over the rest of the month. What don't people get about this?

It's not anything at the moment? And probably won't be anything either.

Nothing has been put in place, there are proposals being talked about, and in different countries around the world there are different systems. Some are about flexible working hours, some are about mandatory leave, as mentioned in the OP.

No it's not and if it was they wouldnt automatically be made up. Look at any actual business when someone takes sick leave, deadlines still need to be met and duties need to be carried out - the people at work take up the slack.

5 days x 12 = 60 days extra days off.

It works out to be an extra two and a half hours each day for the following three weeks.

I may just end up getting crippling period pains for the fun of it.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that a woman would take all of every period off...

I think it's a very good idea to given women time off when they require it for periods.

I don't think employers are allowed to ask you your gender these days.

Certainly asking for evidence of your gender would leave them open to discrimination issues.

The period cramp laws would have to apply to all, and not be gender specific.
So I think you'd be fine to take a day or two a month.

People don't generally go to doctors to diagnose every period every month , so if they asked you only for this it would also be discrimination.

Have you ever worked anywhere??? You cant make up time on time critical tasks that need to be completed? Daily reports for example, or manufacturing quotas,

Give time off as unpaid leave. Take a sick day. Whatever. What's the big deal?

It would be unjust to give one sex more time off than the other. Work something out. It's not that difficult really.
