Looking very well Joe love the wheels, Thinking of the S3 myself, but with doing 30k plus a year it wouldn't be very economical.

I'm averaging about 27mpg. Mostly journeys of less than 15-20kms on N roads / back roads.

There is a black Golf R knocking around Limerick alright, see it regularly.

Is it a black 152D with Pretoria alloys bazz?

No idea, it's usually too far off in the distance to get a good look. Frequently see it on the N24 and I know Pierce Motors out in Tipperary town have a black 152 D Golf R at the moment so it might be plausible that one of their sales team living in Limerick is driving it.

    Yeah
One of the pierse's drives it and lives in limerick. He told me he likes it so much that for the first time ever he ordered the same car as a demo twice.
Gorgeous car, almost made me order one.
It's for sale now at 44k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,550 ✭✭✭JoeA3

I'd be very slow to part with big money for an ex demo performance car.
    €44k for a dealer-ragged 9 month old R... I wouldn't!

It's a done deal. 3 weeks and I should have 5 door, GTI-P DSG in Carbon Grey outside my door. Can't wait!

Nice one. Must be a stock car, yeah? Probably has the tech pack too ?

Yeah was ordered by another dealer for stock and we had to fight them for it as it's the only option of getting one before April 30th. Tech Pack alright, so pretty much all the toys I'd want. I decided not to go for leather this time, will be interesting to see if I regret that decision in the long term.

You'd most likely have had to wait for a fresh factory order for leather.

Could always go for an aftermarket retrim down the road. The VW leather isn't the greatest quality for what it costs.

I fitted a set of these today, ordered from Lockwood in the UK. They're very smart and factory looking imo!

Congrats - I got the same car in white 2 weeks ago and I am delighted with it. Big smile on my face every time I sit in it. Regarding the leather...... buy a bottle of this.

It will only cost you €20. I spilled a little coffee on mine by accident and because the seats were treated with this it beaded on top of the seat literally sitting there waiting for me to soak it up with a cloth - no stain - no soaking in.

Avoid the lifeshine whatever you do. Overpriced gimmick that'll be slapped on by one of the dealer's "valet" young fellas.

In fact you'd be well advised not to let the dealer touch the car at all.

I was picking up my daughter earlier at a place next to a main dealer (who shall remain nameless) and was pretty stunned to see them putting a new unregistered car through one of those big scary looking brush washes.

I got the lifeshine for free thrown into the deal. Gave a nice shine for a bit, and I've not managed to spill anything inside yet to test that :P but I'd go with Joe and get a proper new detail done once you have it. I'll be looking to get the same done when I decide on my alloys/lowering agenda. :D

Well wear anyway OSI, you'll love it. :)

Well wear! I've the same car (minus dsg & pp), and its a fine car.

The CSG colour really looks well when clean. Are you coming from a mark 5 gti? I went from a mark 5 to mark 7 (via an I'll advised change to an i40). There is a noticible improvement in every way from the mark 5. Ride, handling, steering & performance are all much improved.

A big improvement is in the torque figure, which is around 25% higher. The adaptive cruise control is one feature I use every day. I believe it's more useful with Dsg too.

Is there any better alternatives that you could recommend?

If you don't have the time / patience / interest to do it yourself, bring it to a pro detailer. Brian in Spirit Detailing would be my recommendation.

Nice dark grey 152 gti parked outside a house in malahide at the moment, anyone on here? Think it's the best colour in them.

Carbon grey is lovely alright. Contrasts well with the red bits too.

Peugeot ireland bringing in the 308gti. Maybe old news but may be of interest. Can't see too many shifting. Also 270bhp from a 1.6! Not a fan of it's styling on first glance.

Possible me yesterday, I was in watching the F1 with my Son.

I just had the car cleaned just an hour before, so that was possibly why it caught your eye?

Yeah it looked like it was just out of the showroom. Down that street and take a right, then parked on the left? I then saw 3 more GTIs in Malahide! Great selection of cars cruising about that part of Dublin from a 95 5 series to a 2014 911.

Yep, that's was me alright :):)

did my first VCDS mod at the weekend - turned off the Soundaktor. Old age must be creeping up and me, as the car is more pleasant now without that fake sound, plus you notice the exhaust alot more.

Anyone else have some nice VCDS suggestions ? I know JoeA3 has the heated seat memory retention active, so thats next on my list.

Brake lights on the inner parts of the lights is a nice one too.

Inner brake lights is definitely my favourite. A must do.

Also you GTI owners can activate the coming home / leaving home lights to use the fogs & DRL's rather than the main beams. I had this done on the GTI and it looked pretty cool.

Another useful one, you can set the climate control fan speed to always display it's indicator. In auto mode it doesn't show the fan speed from factory.

Any of you with the factory alarm fitted can activate lock/unlock chirp.
