Any way you can check another sim card in the phone to see if it's actually unlocked please?

if you buy it in a network shop it will be locked to their sims only.

Additionally u can get it unlocked if you meet their criteria / pay an extra charge.

Hence buying it directly from Samsung is much more expensive (unlocked to any network).

This thread is a great reminder why I always just walk into a shop on release day and buy a phone. Couriers are a thorn in my side.

Good news for fans of flashing ROMS. Samsung has apparently published the source for the Exynos powered S7 Edge

I have had no joy locating one. Ringing Vodafone stores and only one answered. Reply I got was they have no authorisation to sell their stock to customers looking to buy prepay, only billpay customers. Tried ringing few local three stores and like Vodafone none answering the phone. Not too pushed about changing network anyway because Vodafone has the strongest signal where I am.

Will be picking up an Edge from Three via Carphone Warehouse in the next hour. If my housemate's around I'll try their SIM. Is there a way to check on the device without trying another SIM?

Picked up the Edge + VR earlier but I haven't got my hands on another sim to try yet. As others said it has a Three splash screen so likely to be locked.

Spent most of the afternoon bumping around the sitting room with my head in virtual land. :)

Last two 3 devices i bought (one from the North, one from here) had 3 splash and bloat, but weren't sim locked.

No IR blaster. Really annoying as I'd like to upgrade to this but the IR remote has many uses for me. Seems to be a feature that is harder to find too. I believe the LG G5 has it so that might be my next stop.

Do you use the IR blaster on so many devices?

Tried a different sim. The phone requested an unlock code.

Does anyone know if PC world will stock them sim free? I remember someone saying earlier in the thread that they had a demo model in one of the stores.

Samsung site only allowing orders for the gold edge, saying the black is sold out. Don't think I want to change the colour I was ordering from unlocked mobiles.

I would take the vr off your hands if you have no interest in keeping it

Couple of things so far after a day.

Such a lovely phone. Feels so much better put together with better stuff than anything I've had before.
I'm already 30 mins over my average screen time from a full G4 cycle (3h 48m) and I've still got 36% battery left.
Nicest screen I've ever looked at.
I'd read it was a bit over sensitive to touches and I'm finding that to be true so far.
I need to change how I hold it to stop hitting the bottom of the screen when going for the home button. Not used to it being so low after using on-screen buttons for years.
Far far far too many 'wipe home key and try again' messages when trying to unlock with fingerprint.
The Gear VR is nice because it was free and is generally impressive if you treat it as a preview of what VR will be able to do. It's just not clear enough to be all that usable.
Camera is so fast to take pictures.
Nova launcher was a must after 20 minutes because of that app drawer button location and the app drawer itself.
The Edge features are rather handy.
Piss off with all that Microsoft **** unless you're giving away the Office subscription with the no-option install.

I had been thinking of getting rid unopened but when it cost nothing I'll hold on to it in case they do anything worthwhile with it.

Ah okay. If you change your mind let me know

As someone who owns a Z3 compact and curious about "upgrading" to the S7 - is this battery life actually considered good in a flagship phone these days?

The Compact model in the Z series easily cracks 7 hours screen time. Surely these €800 phones have caught up by now?!
