How do you introduce your spouse?

I heard a fella I know introduce his wife to another couple recently as follows: "this is my partner, Molly" (not her real name). Now, he is married to Molly so wtf wouldn't he introduce her as his wife?

So I asked him later on and he said he didn't want to embarrass the other couple who aren't married but are living together.

    PC gone mad?

I was genuinely waiting to find out why he introduced her as molly if that wasn't her real name.

    I'm a dope.

'The one I'm sleeping with' or 'my first wife'

Currently I also use "the person I'm sleeping with". Hopefully someday I'll make her my wife. Then I can introduce her as "the person I'm not sleeping with."

And this lovely lady is the pure unfortunate bitch that married me....

I hate the term partner, for some reason I always associate partner with "Life Partner" although now that we have equality I guess that phrase will be obsolete

I introduce her as Wife No 1, I don't have a second yet, but it's good to set expectations early.

Depends on what I'm introducing him to. If I was introducing him to a man eating tiger it might go down something like:

Husband, come meet this tiger, hes really friendly. Tiger, come eat my husband, hes really tasty.

Idk though, I'm still at the planning stages.

I used to just introduce him as "my German" but it turns out he's really offended by that!

Now I just introduce him by his name. As in "This is my Raymond*". He also doesn't like that but he hasn't been able to vocalise why so it's staying for now. :P I just find the word boyfriend so juvenile! We're not married but we live together so I guess partner might be a better term but I don't like the sound of that either! I like keeping people guessing too, nosey buggers!

He introduces me as his girlfriend.

*may not be his real name

'Herself'. 'The Missus'. 'Poor fool who believed my lies/took pity on me'.

    Depends on the company really.

My Dad was in Ham Radio & in their 'code' the wife is refered to as the 'XYL'.

    Before matrimony she's the 'YL'.

I am clearly mad, I introduce her by her name.

Hello, This is (insert name here) or possible, this is my wife (insert name here)

I intro the wife as partner. I still feel like I'm too immature to be associated with the term 'wife'. Despite being 35!

I had a civil partnership so we aren't quite married but I consider us married really and I wish I could just call her my wife instead of my partner. Sometimes I do call her my wife and now that it is legally possible for us to get married I guess we will at some point, we're just lazy because we had our wedding a year and a half ago. I think we will just go to the registry office at some point.

Always as (insert name), my wife as I'm very proud of her and to be with her, even after 25 years.
Hate the whole partner thing as I work with another guy and when people ask, are you partners, I always say no, we work together.....

I always use "partner", it's just my habit. Never liked the term "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" - it just has a very teenager sound to it to me! Now it's "fiance", but I still tend to use partner.

It does sometimes leave people thinking that I'm gay, though. :D

I just introduce people by name in general. I never feel the need to clarify my relationship status or type with them regardless of who they are. Unless it comes up for other reasons.

Haven't read a lot of your posts before taxahcruel, What if it does come up ?

Do you explain the relationship you have and what sort of response or reaction do you get ?

Just asking by the way not judging or criticizing in any way shape or form :-)

My answer is i just introduce my partner with her name.
