Love how the hating people seem to think that this is the end just because he lost? Like, his bubble is burst and he is done now... People, the chap is a fighter haha even Tyson/Ali lost fights!

He'll go back down to 45 and fight Frankie, and probably starch him.

Aldo's calling him out on Twitter now for a rematch at 200, sure he might last 20 seconds this time.

Frankie is the only fight on for McGregor now, RDA maybe down the line but he's going to need to take a LW fight before that I'd say.

I'm personally really disappointed. Thought he had it in the bag.

Surely this means he'll have to go back and defend his 145 title? Can you really justify the dos anjos fight?

Still can't believe he shot for a takedown. Should have just ran for the final 40 seconds until he recovered his senses. At worst he would have gone into the 3rd round at 1-1. He was definitely on queer street at that point though.

It's hard to evaluate what's going through a fighters head at the time, but I personally think he knew if he stayed on his feet he'd get ko'ed and the takedown was damage limitation with a hope might survive it.

His mat skills are hard to judge at this point as it was over by the time he went for the takedown.

    You think he'll beat Frankie?

Two relatively unskilled boxers throwing wild swings at one another. Might be a good idea when you dwarf your opponent, as McGregor usually does. When the shoe's on the other foot you're asking for trouble.

Conor was winning but there was no threat of Nate being KO'd which was significant. Conor spammed that left hand (a bit worrying) but when he landed it Nate ate it and barely flinched. That made it a different fight altogether.

Surprised he didn't kick more like he did against Mendes. Especially as Nate has never been able to defend kicks well. Conor seems to have fallen in love with his left hand and kept loading up with it.

Well that's that then, the death of a legend......don't see where he goes from here beyond 145......shown to not have the chin we all thought, 1 punch rocked him and then his ground game where the evidence was there against Mendes shown to be very weak.....can he get a title shot at 155/70 after that? don't think so....bitterly disappointing

Also if he was KOd would be not have missed 200 due to medical

    Stupid fight to take.

    Jk need to think carefully.

    Idiotic.

At that weight, one clean shot and it's sleepy time, against a bigger guy it's not the same.

Frankie could wrestle f*ck him and win, and if he goes for that it's a different fight, but Frankie fancies himself as a striker these days.

Conor should have kicked more, but he wanted the big punch KO. As far as boxing goes, there wasn't much between them, Nate clearly had the better chin though.

Couldn't carry the weight; looked like he gassed very quickly and was much slower. Intriguing to see the next step for him; gutted how it went but part of me glad it was a Diaz who beat him! Surely Nate gets the LW shot now at 200 and Conor vs Frankie or an Aldo rematch.

Yes relative to boxers because boxers can focus solely on boxing:rolleyes: MMA fighters have to focus on a number of disciplines. Probably one of the best boxers in the roster. Was destroying Diaz standing until he got rocked

Before tonight, I was confident that Frankie was the guy to take him down and beat him. Now I'm pretty sure of it. People will say it's because Conor was rocked but he lacks the grappling. Frankie's a better grappler than Nate.

**** knows what RDA would've done to him...

Conor looked off from the start of that fight, very low energy

Sorry for conor but diaz also a legend. Conor landed some decent shots but clearly the power does not have the same impact up the weight divisions. Dont know why it suddenly means he would be beaten by Edgar , no comparison. Wouldn't say Dana and the ufc are overly disappointed, gives them back more negotiation power

A lot of people saying conor was beating the head off Diaz and yes he was landing shots but did Diaz look in any way bothered? As far as I could tell conor best efforts were having little to no effect - bar the cut.

Left himself open and got punished

"1 punch rocked him" that not a bit harsh? He was caught with a few real nice clean Jabs before he was shook and he was up 2 weight classes I heard? I'd be more concerned of his defence or lack thereof.

He was wobbly on his legs and getting hurt. If he could have somehow gotten top position and stalled the round it might have worked out and he would have had a shot at getting recovery time.

Yeah that was his idea I think, he thought he cloud close out the round on his back like he did with Chad, take a few shots and wait for the bell. Diaz was too sharpe for it though, any chance at a sub he was taking!

It's a pity for Connor... he didn't seem to be on his game tonight. Once he got rocked in the 2nd it was nearly inevitable that it was gonna finish early. Put it down to the weight maybe. 145 /155 is his level.
Press conference should be interesting. At least it will put an end to the debate that Mcgregor could take Lawler. Zero chance.

I think you're completely failing to respect the actual size difference between the two men and the power difference betweem 145 and 170, Robbie has eaten everything everyone has thrown at him in the last few years and shook it off, Rory and Hendricks hit harder than Conor and they couldn't put him away. It's a totally different animal. He just got mollywopped by a 155er who isn't known for his power.

Not a chance Frankie stands with him. Either he can't close distance and gets KO'd or he GnPs for a decision.

Not an easy fight for McGregor. I'm worried for him tbh. If he loses that too then his aura is gone. This loss could be recovered due to circumstances but he needs to win his next fight.

Diaz was cut, not hurt. Tonight was a good example of the difference size makes in terms of chin, power, strength etc. What Diaz brought to the table, Lawler could bring it 2x better. There is literally no way Conor avoids getting KO'd by Lawler. I said it a while back, there are at least 20-30 WWs that beat Conor. There's a point where size just becomes too significant to overcome.

Well he was clearly winning the fight until he got stunned from that one punch. Diaz could barely see out of one eye.

    But yeah all immaterial now.

Fighters giving Mcgregor some stick now
Aldo has called him out for UFC200 and called him a pu$$y

RDA has called him 'soft', this is not featherweight and jiu jitsu saves lives!

Oh and on Diaz - he cuts open regularly. Doesn't get fazed by it at all. Fair play to him on his win. Back down to 145 for mcgregor and hopefully his coaches give him better advice this time

Curiously enough no fixed/wwe claims from posters tonight.

    Just this guy:
    Fix if you ask me.
