So, I got laser eye surgery in December (2015), and today went about claiming my tax back, I think I'm due 20%.

I wen't onto PAYE anytime, clicked 2015 at the top, then under my tax credits clicked health expenses and put the cost of the surgery under "other medical expenses", then it just confirmed my bank details and said submit.

Is that it? I don't have to show my receipt or anything? Did I do it right?

    Any help appreciated, thanks

That's all! Just keep your receipts as you might get picked for audit. They can do this for 6 years.

Yes, it's as simple as that. Keep your receipts for 6 years as other reply has stated in case of audit. You can also log in under the 'myaccount' on revenue home screen using your payeanytime pin. This has your LPT, PAYE, Home renovation tax all linked together. By the way, you have to have your property tax up to date to claim a refund of other taxes.

That's brilliant guys. Thanks for your quick responses! Credit where credit is due, the PAYE anytime is a good and easy to use tool, I looked at the forms I would have had to fill out and didn't know what was going on. ha
