Said ages ago about my suspicions about the cash reserves and recent events match up with them somewhat.

You sure did to be fair. I guess the only thing that will appease the supporters is a real big money signing (striker like an Aguero for eg) and until that happens, we'll just be another investment to the Yankee in our eyes. What we really need is a few moves in the other big Euro clubs unsettling a few strikers and when a few moves happen, then we can move.

Winning something would somewhat appease me, even if this should be the easiest league to win in years.

Not Arsenal related but Paddy's day got a nice fixture for football!

Spurs drew Dortmund while Liverpool drew Man Utd. in Europa League.

Was kinda hoping spurs would go far in the competition, those Europa league games in the middle of nowhere every Thursday would hamper their league performances

As I said before, if he's delusional enough to think the current "way" is good enough then **** him. He's on ridiculous money and can quit whenever. If he (as everyone else can) see that the club is being run with on-pitch performances not being particularly high on the list of priorities then he should do something about it. He supposedly lives the club so he should be fighting for it.

Interesting that everyone jumps on the one little non-positive bit if my comment. Well, maybe "interesting" is the wrong word, fairly expected at this stage rather than address the ridiculous way the club is being run. Much better to not be a "plaything" and win stuff, let's just keep having funds being bled from the club to massage a billionaire's accounts for his others clubs. Not a plaything though.

all the more credit to Wenger, should he win under those financial constraints.

I agree though that it's hard to see a justification for such a large reserve. It seems wrong and unless the club can provide a valid reason to have one then fans are right to complain and protest, especially with such high ticket prices.

EDIT; not to mention how far removed the current squad is from the elite in Europe. The gap between us and Barca is like us playing a championship side (maybe even a struggling Championship side) There is no doubt we need expensive acquisitions if we want to reach their level.

Shows how far Spurs have come this season that they could consider resting players for their last 16 match in Europa league against a top side and the other pair are having sex wees about playing each other.

Looks like Martial is out for Sunday.

As for the weak league thing, it's pretty cut and dry. If we get 28/36 points for the rest of the season and win the league it'll be the lowest winning points total since the 98/99 season. Now some will say "Oh the league's gotten more competitive" which is true. However looking at European performance I don't see how anyone can claim it's down to lower teams improving when it's pretty obvious the top clubs have stagnated or regressed in the last 3+ years.

Its the shirt we fear, not the players that wear it. As I said earlier in the thread, we've lost to some stinking United teams in the last couple of seasons. We seem to have shifted that bottle job tendency to Chelsea again, so maybe we do have a chance on Sunday.

a win and no more injuries for us is all i ask for, is it too much?

I have the same wish as most of these big games. No penalties against us, no red cards.

Should win unless we hit the self-destruct button with one of these.

Always a possibility with us I'm afraid!

Shouldn't we wait and see who wins the league first before acting like we're going to win the thing. Everyone In here including Button would be absolutely delighted If we won the league whether he'll admit It or not, but let's wait and see If that's going to happen first.

Not sure where/when I'm meant to have said I wouldn't be delighted if we win it. There's a way to go yet, still have to play Spurs and City and United and our players are tired from not getting injured. :P We haven't beat Spurs the last time we've played them but that's just being negative apparently.

Let's say we want to get to 80 points, that's 29/36 points we have to get. Which means dropping just 7 points against Spurs, City, United, West Ham, Everton and Sunderland, all from home and Watford, Palace, West Brom, Swansea, Noriwch and Villa at home.
Leicester have much easier run-in, Spurs is roughly the same as ours (us, United, Southampton at home, West Ham and Liverpool away) and City's looks similar to Leicester's. To get 29/36 we need a run of W9 D2, L1 which means perfection is required against all except City, United and Spurs.

Beating Swansea and matching last years' results would get us to 80 points.

There is no further room for error and that's for sure.
Every draw is 2 points further away from winning the EPL.
We have to start scoring again too and be more confident in front of goal.
No point dominating the possession stats and creating loads of scoring chances if we don't make it count.
There is still a mental block with this group of players imo.
No more excuses for this team, it's time to piss or get off the pot.

Usmanov is buying Everton apparently. It will be funny when he invests millions into them and they finish ahead of us next season.
