The girl with the Dragon tattoo.

Nope. Good guess but the investigation was about the disappearance of a girl and not the death of a guy's colleague.

The movie I'm thinking of is older and the fake dragon had real flames even though it isn't a real dragon.

    The wicker man?

    Nope.

The Wicker Man also investigated the disappearance of a girl. My movie has someone investigating the death of a colleague. He enlists the support of a local, and they come across a fake dragon that happens to "breathe" real fire.

I can't remember if I did this one but here goes.

A paedophile tries his best to go straight.

    The Woodsman

Very good. Must be the only movie where I was inclined to feel sorry for a paedophile.

Young guy is sent to jail. He is told to kill someone or else. He feels guilt and has visions. Ends up in charge himself.

The Japanese have a very novel way of reducing class overcrowding.

(Again I wonder if I've done this one but whatever)

A town in the middle of nowhere survives by car crashes. Herbie is covered by spikes. Weird.

Have you ever saw a weirder movie than that? It was silly but made me quite queasy. For some reason Australian movies sometimes have that effect on me. (Picnic at hanging rock, wolf creek)

Coming of age story about a young man who comes out of the closet when an older hairy man tells him that he's special and invites him up an alley. After a variety of exhausting antics, including chasing and catching balls in his mouth, a dogging threesome, and a queen nearly murdering his friend while riding, he's faced with dealing with some freaky head. A hot hand job seems to do the trick before he passes out. He wakes up to find an old fella sucking his beans.

    :D

    That was quick.

(It's amazing how a movie can deal with such tricky themes and be held in such affection, as this movie is by me)

Terrific film. Haven't seen it in years. Great thread for reminding us of some gems (and POSs)

A newly-wed finds his recent marriage under threat from his betrothed's introduction to his two beloved aunts.

(Sorry if this discription is a bit hit-and-miss but the scenario is very difficult to encapsulate)

I've actually never seen it, despite owning a copy for years and loving Australian films!
