Hard to believe 1936 was only 80 years ago.

This time 10 years ago, you were hearing the word "Bebo" being mentioned for the first time and within a month or two you had a page and so began the story of social media which will eventually be seen as a gamechanger in human history.

I was 14, so just finding out about the joys of drinking cheap flagons of cider in fields with the Arctic Monkeys first album being the soundtrack!

In some ways, 2006 feels like yesterday. In other ways though, it feels like a different world. There isn't a single aspect of my life that hasn't changed beyond all recognition in those ten years.

The year of the true last Summer (June and July whilst 2013 was only July)! During most of Summer 2006 I went on holidays to Donabate and man it was exceptionally hot! 2006 is definitely a year in my memories!

    2006

    Hot summer

A Friday property supplement with the Indo which probably consisted of 40sq miles of Brazilian forestry to make.

Ireland being a nasty, arrogant, bloated hubris and cocaine fuelled Rome.

It always amuses me the way people seem to think we were happy during the boom or that everyone was well off. All I seem to recall are hospital closures and people moaning about the cost of a pint/ eating out/ housing etc etc. Say what you like but there were a lot fewer places in Dublin back then where you could get a pint and have change from a fiver, or get a fast food feed for the same price.

...and it was the dish that ran away with the spoon. It's a mad world altogether.

    Ahh 2006.
Met my first bat **** crazy future ex girlfriend.
Remember the heat and chilling out at the lake in loughrea and in portumna.
Then I met a girl which turned into my wife :)
Did the leaving the year before.
Remember the lads being delighted at the new loughrea bypass and the fact we were getting a motorway to Dublin soon.
    06 was a good year.
