VRT Calculator

    Hi there lads and lassies,

    I want to know how accurate the online revenue VRT calculator is. I saw a few cars advertised for say €9,000 but the VRT calculator only has them at about €6000. Are we being completely ripped off by the used car industry with vastly over inflated prices? Capitol Motors have a nice Civic for €8950 but the VRT open market selling price has it a €4648. Ant thoughts?

    the market dictates the price of used cars.
    used civics are hot stuff at the minute and tbh they're a bit overpriced. but they're worth what people will pay for them.
    8950 for a diesel 09 civic is about right. but I I were buying one of get an EX trim with more extras than the one there. sadly the exchange rate makes importing one expensive. which brings us neatly back to your original post.


    ps. I'm getting €8114 on vrt calc for an 09.

    I think your calculations are off, because if you can get a proper 2009 for under 5k then snap their hand off.

    BTW the Open Market Selling Price on the VRT calculator is based on data supplied to Revenue by the S.I.M.I. It is frequently updated and very rarely is the figure on Revenue's site less than what they are selling for. It's normally higher because the VRT is calculated as a percentage of that figure.
