No P45, what happens?

I was supposed to work over xmas, gave them my p45 and well it's got lost and I didn't work for them either, bit of a sheet show, girl who I was dealing with left.
Emailed about p45 and heard nothing.
Just wondered is there something you can do to give to next employer?

If you don't give your next employer your P45 you will be fleeced by revenue on emergency tax for the first while.

Your previous employer is obliged to give you your P45 so get get back on to them, ring them, drop into them if you must.

Contact you local Revenue office and ask them did they get the P45 from that company. If they did, Bob's your uncle. If not you should ask them what to do. Best get it from the horse's mouth.

You can request a Tax Credit Certificate and give that instead of the p45 i believe you will pay emergency tax till the cert is given to your new employer

You don't really need your P45 as you are in a new tax year.
If you are starting a new employment, get the new employer's tax number, ring Revenue yourself and ask that the transfer your tax credits and bands to your new employment. It's quick and easy to done, Revenue will process it over the phone and the tax details would be sent out to your new employer in a few days.

Cheers for replies, it is a wee bit messy because I'm on BTEA but also get little bits of work in college, like last week. And that's a one off, might get more might not.

No P45, what happens?
