Is a cover letter necessary?

Im handing in my CV in person to few local clothes and food stores and am wondering if a cover letter is needed? Im not really sure how to present my CV in person to be honest.. Thanks for any comments or advice!

You need a cover letter to tell them what type of role you are applying for. It could just be very simple - something like "I am interested in part time (or full time) hours and am available from this date xxxx. Please see my CV (attached)." Best of luck.

Dress as if you're going for the interview, tbh. The person you hand in your CV to, no matter their age, could be your supervisor.
