From what I've read openvix is one of the best plus they officially support the box you have :)

    Check out world of satellite

Have to agree openvix is the best image I've used.

    Hi,

Just looking for a bit of help, earlier in the thread I said that I was getting xpeed LX2 for a friend of mine. Well I've set it up the following way,
    Openvix
HDD for recording and time shift
    4GB for epg

In having a problem with downloading epg. I've everything setup like mine own xtrend box which works fine but for some reason epg will not work.

Here is what happens and settings I use:

Have epg set to go to /media/USB
    Rytec UK xmltv ticked
    Sky UK Opentv ticked

    I've updated both providers.

When I download I get the channels downloaded then it deflatens events but when it tried to parse events it gets half way and starts again but just sits there and does nothing!! Been pulling hair out with this!

I've deleted crossepg and reinstalled it still nothing.

Will have my.hands on box later this month nine so hoping someone can help me before hand.

I also noticed that I have an option on my xtrend in crossepg configure for a
Preferred lamedb I don't have this option on the LX2? Is that right? Could that be the reason why I'm not getting passed parsing events?

Could I make a backup copy of my box (xtrend 8000) and flash it to the xpeed LX2? So I could old be an mirror image of mine?

Attached are pictures from my box,

You can see from the last pic that I have setup autobouqte this way but for some reason AB won't run on LX 2 when script check is on?!! Any ideas why that is?

    Any ideas?

I'm hoping someone can go through this post and answer most of the questions.

    Thanks in advance.

Bit of a silly question here... I have my EPG set to download at 4am, does my broadband need to be left turned on for the EPG to download or will the EPG download / update as soon as my broadband is switched on at roughly 8am each morning ?

If your using Crossepg with opentv set to 28.2 deg. This downloads from satellite directly, not by broadband. No broadband required.

It does not have to be 4am, you can set to whatever time you like, say 8/30, half hour after you start your modem.

If I done this would I not have to restart the GUI though to refresh the EPG?

Just looking for a box for a friend and was gonna send him on a few comparisons if it was handy.

He wants a twin tuner with internal HDD.

    Any good deals out there?

Looking at the xtrend 10000,Mut@nt 2400 and the Duo 2.They seem to be the best of what's available at the higher end.Is it worth paying the top prices or will lower spec boxes be just as good ?

great price, and delivery is only about 10 euro ?
checked satkontor there and they have lowered the price to the same,
but delivery from them is 20 euro.

much difference between the lx2 and edison os mini twin tuner.
very similar specs and box in general

BIt off topic, but my Xtrend ET8000 has started to become laggy every now and again. Example would be going through channels I press down and it could take 2 secs for it to go down.

It doesn't happen all the time but is happening more frquently now. Should I have swap enabled?
