Would anybody who had the falafels mind posting a picture at all? Even just the empty packaging. I asked in my local Aldi this morning and left them completely bewildered.

Hah, I was just in Aldi and scoured the fridges all over and couldn't see anything either!

D'you mind me asking where you are HeidiHeidi? I'm in Limerick and Limerick now have a very confused Aldi manager.

I was in the Palmerstown branch in Dublin.

    Here you go ...

In my Aldi, they're on the right hand side, just after the fridge with the prepared veg and bagged salads along with all the other ready to eat salad bowls, wraps etc. If you get to the meat section, you've gone too far :)

I've seen them in dublin too.
As it's a new product (and one I haven't seen advertised on leaflets etc...) i wonder are they just doing regional trialing, and that's why your Limerick store have no idea?

I've seen other products come in before for a limited time with no mention - some type of chicken mexican tapas things that were delish but only last a couple of months max.

@whiskeyman, I did wonder about that alright. I'd say it's a good possibility. I'll keep an eye out in the coming weeks though.

Their salmon mousse ("Salmon Sensation", if you don't mind) is pretty damn bloody gorgeous.

Just had half a tub on fresh brown bread for lunch... yummmmmm :D

Combination of a cold and dental surgery has left me sipping a lot of Aldis specially selected soups this week, cant fault them, they're basically Cully and Sullys for €1.50, the Tomato and Basil especially is spectacular, been eating it with soft white bread and cheese, Ill carry on eating it when Im back to normal, hard to decribe the taste but it is perfect Tomato soup, nearly as good as homemade. Chicken and Veg very nice aswell, an exact clone of Cully and Sullys one.

I had their steak and Murphys frozen pies the other day and they were very nice indeed. There's a chicken and leek one as well. Aldi Honey Nut cornflakes are lovely as well - not as sweet as the Kelloggs one and with a far stronger nutty flavour. To my taste buds at any rate.

You can get that same falafel in Dunnes too but it's €3. It's very delicious in a roll with tomato, red onion and hummous! €2 is a bargain I hope they keep it in stock.

Anybody seen the falafel in any of the Cork aldis? I looked today buy didn't see any, couldn't see a price tag for them either!

Just noticed some new stock... potato gratin and 'chili potatos' - in the same kind of pack, but with red onions, chorizo and chilli sauce.

Not currently available but if you ever spot the Finlay's or Mackie's crisps on their SpecialBuys, definitely try them out.
Bloody gorgeous crisps and thick-cut too :)

Finally got around to trying these (except mine were "aromatic" as opposed to "authentic".

They were really very tasty indeed! I didn't think I'd better the M&S ones, but these leave them in the shade.

Mini pitta, loads of hummus, some mixed leaves and freshly heated falafel..... gawjus!!

I will be buying them again!!

Yes, there's two different varieties one Mediterranean and he other Moroccan I think, one supposedly a bit spicier than the other, but to be honest not a huge amount of difference between them.

Have they got rid of the Pearla toothpaste and mouthwash?
I particularly liked the mouthwash as it was non-alcohol.
Was good as it was an irish owned company too:

Seems to be replaced with cheap Colgate branded toothpaste and 'Dentix' mouthwash.

I haven't seen the Pearl toothpaste recently either. You should be able to get non alcohol Dentix mouthwash. My Aldi stocks both types.

Aldi Garlic and herb goats cheese is delicious and their wholegrain breakfast muffins are yummy with savoury/ sweet toppings.

Must look out for the falafel

I've been buying the full fat soft cheese, it's only about 65p , I then mix in some chopped garlic and parsley, salt and pepper and it's really good. Cheaper than philadelphia and basically the same but home made.

Sliced loaf of Sourdough Bread 99c!

    the Pecorino white wine 7.99

They have very good flours atm. French bread flour, tipo00 and multi grain flour. I don't think it's part of permanent stock but it's great if you bake your own bread or make your own pasta.

These are my new favourite crisps, have to force myself not to buy them or Id eat a bag a night, think they're only €1.30-1.40:

Has anyone noticed that the small ring-pull can of cashews is the cheapest way to buy them - and the loose ones (which I don't fancy anyway) are the most expensive.

There is a newish (I think) cheese called white stilton with dates, raisins and walnuts, and I can eat an entire block in a couple of days. Lovely.

Their smoked salmon is good value, and I would love to be able to get the salmon mousse but it seems it might have just been a christmas special. The fish chowder is very nice, and if you get a packet of the mixed fish pieces to put in it you have a dinner for two that is instant and very tasty. They have a good selection of fish, the hake fillets are lovely.

Ooops! Sorry, all the above is for Lidl, no idea why I am putting that in an Aldi thread!

I got the salmon mousse recently, and they have an almost identical one in lidl as well. Delicious!

    Well I got the falafel!

Haven't had a chance to try them heated yet but cold they aren't the best :(
