Telecommuting jobs?

Does anyone know of any recruitment agencies in this country that offer telecommuting positions?

My partner relocated to Canada before xmas. I am in the final year of a Software Development degree. I will still have some commitments in Ireland following graduation, so relocating to Canada would be difficult for the foreseeable future. Ideally I would like to find a position that would allow me share my time between Ireland and Canada. Is it extremely difficult to find telecommuting jobs in this country? I would consider something that isn't in my field also. Any advice appreciated.

Do you have any experience to back up your degree? Or are you going to be looking for a graduate level job that offers remote-working option? Very unlikely to find the latter, IMHO.

One option might be self-employment: Have you developed any apps that could be sold - could you generate a living from selling them?

No, I don't have any IT related work experience. I'm guessing you'd need a couple of years of in-house experience before you could find a telecommuting job then?

Out of interest, where would such jobs even be advertised? I've had a quick look around some of the main recruitment sites and haven't come across any.

I believe its something few to no new recruits get no matter the level. You start as normal and 12-18mo later you have a chat with your direct supervisor about migrating towards working remotely.

IIRC HP had a generous policy regarding working from home but scaled it way back/axed it as it wasn't working out.

Try Shopify, they were recruiting in Galway recently and all their positions are remote working and they are actually a Canadian company.

You need to be on top of your game to get a remote job.
There is no space for fresh grads and unproven performers in this space.
