UpGrading vodafone router..??

Hi All,
I have a Vodafone router which I think is a Huawei HG658c,I'm thinking of upgrading it as I'm loosing wireless connection at times and need to reboot it to get connection again....
Do you think a NETGEAR GS608-400UKS from amazon would work/do the job for me...I'm on a Vodafone contract with average speeds of 4-6 Mbps..:(

Hi,
The Netgear GS608 is a switch and will not do the job you need.
I presume you want to bin the Vodafone router altogether?

If so, you should contact Vodafone first and try to get a new router.
Alternatively, there are plenty of options available.

Thanks eezipc for your fast reply and educating me on what I was about to purchase.
Have since been onto Vodafone and they want to renew an 18month contract before the send out a new router....will shop around e.g. air etc before I do....Thanks again.

I use Vodafone, same as yourself and my contract is ending soon. Let me know if you get any good deals.
I had a quick look last week and it seems that Vodafone have the best rates at the moment. Still expensive compared to the UK though.

If you just want to buy a router, make sure it's an adsl router. I see Currys have a decent one for €45 http://www.currys.ie/Product/tplink-tdw8968-wireless-adsl-modem-router-n300/321685/400.7.7

This should be in the broadband forum.

You may be losing PPP/ATM connection vs your wifi and if that is the case a new modem is a waste of money. You must troubleshoot this properly.

When it drops does a laptop still show "connected to Vodafone xyz"? or "limited connected" or "Connected no internet access"?
