Giroud is excellent. He just blows too hot and cold. Only for his goals this season we would be sitting in the bottom half of the table.

    Welbeck I meant.

As for Giroud I'd love to see his conversion stats and so on, he misses a lot of easy chances. Was it against Liverpool at 3-2 he had that one that he managed to direct further from goal? Don't expect him to score every chance but he seems to miss easy chances at crucial times.

Welbeck is a handy player to have in your squad but agree he is nowhere near prolific enough.

Bit of an exaggeration. Take out his goals and we drop 7 points. OG and Koscielny on 4 each.

He's not very good and the amount of faith being put in him (along with his injury being apparently so impactful on us) is clutching at straws.

I don't know when I look at how long Wenger has had to build a team and the money he's spent then look at Leicester and spurs and how they are doing it doesn't seem right.

We should be ahead of them end of.

Today the first day I think we just won't win the league.

That said 2 wins from next 2 would really help us make a go of it for a bit longer.
    Need a spark

Just watched the highlights, how we didn't score is beyond me. That said though, more performances like that and we'll run away with it.

While performances weren't bad, especially last night, I agree the results rut must be stopped, the next game is a must win and to get right back into position the Leicester game ideally needs to be won too. Although Arsenal will suit them and a draw wouldn't be a disaster either. With the form and consistency they're showing nobody can say its a must win.
With a bit of luck on the Leicester/City and City/Spurs games and all could be rosy again in two weeks time. Obviously not holding my breath for a result v Barca.

I dont understand, take away his 12 league goals and we only drop 7 points?

Yup, most of his goals come when we win easy. Crude but its the only calculation that can be made.

I try to be positive. Mostly because we're in a better position than almost every team in the entire football league.

But that scorers chart says Walcott has banged in as many as Koscielny, right? Jesus.

I was hoping to find some like minded Arsenal supporters in this forum. But I don't think I can hang out here as much as I thought. The endless whinging and whining is too much for me to enjoy it.

We're useless, most of the players are useless, Arsene is useless. We should spend we should this we should that we're a 4th spot team. Ffs. Some spirit in this place.

I must be a glass is half full kinda guy.

I'd be surprised if you could find an Arsenal forum that's noticeably more positive then here. Have you ever been on Arsenal Mania? A lot of season ticket holders post there and I read way worse stuff there, nasty at times. Still some regular quality posts though.

Not sure what you expect on a football forum, especially an Arsenal one.......and after a bad run of games! Personally I like the balance of posters in here.

Was it against United we played Ramsey, Walcott and Sanchez up front?

Would like to see that front three interchanging, we are just so static with Giroud occupying the center, seems to hamper Sanchez especially.

The best way to frame our recent league form is 5 wins in 10. Adjust it and it's 2/7 or 5/13.

Also when looking at goals this season I noticed again that in the first 4 matches we only had Giroud score a single goal for us. The signs were there but people were happy enough with 7/12 points at the time.

Yeah them three played up top against Utd that day. The reason why we can't play that personnel there in the last few months is, that who do you play in the middle? Suppose you could try Coquelin/Elneny but, who knows what that would be like. Missing Santi big time.

Next 5: Bournemouth, Leicester, United, Swansea, Spurs are the next 5 matches we have.
City have Leicester, Spurs, Liverpool, Villa and Norwich.
Leicester have City, Arsenal, Norwich, West Brom and Watford.

Hard to see any points we can afford to drop there. Fail to beat Leicester and the most we can get is 13 points meaning Leicester would have to get less than 7/12 for us to catch them by then. Oh Barcelona are in amongst that run.
Realistically anything but a win against Bournemouth is a disaster. Winning it isn't a sign of mental strength, it's a basic necessity. It's one rare match where they "can't win" and it applies to all teams, some games you should win and there's no great praise if you do but massive criticism if you don't, Bournemouth are that kind of opposition.

Just for the hell of it, I looked at average chances/created to goal for a few teams over this season and last. A few interesting things, like over a season, it seems to average out to between just over 6 and just over 7 chances per goal for pretty much every team. Liverpool also seem to be generally rubbish. They're just a special kind of rubbish this year.

If things did balance out over the season, you'd expect Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to be a bit more clinical over the rest of the season, and Leicester would go the other way. If we were going at the same rate as last year (bearing in mind we have essentially the same team), we would already be on 45 goals.

Who knows though, this could mean absolutely nothing.

Edit: Went back another year, and you can see the difference when you have World Class strikers on fire. Liverpool with Suarez and City with Aguero in 2013/14 were awesome. We were even doing really well that year. Goes to show how terrible things are for us this year.

Ya was thinking Coquelin/Elneny would suit that trio. Elneny looks a goal threat from distance too.

I don't think last night was that bad

Great and lucky enough goalkeeping performance, point blank saves etc.

If it came after 3 wins in a row it'd be fine.

But it didn't. We've no margin for error or luck.

If we win all our remaining fixtures we end up on 87 points.

Point being that's the absolute maximum we can get. It's pretty low already.

Sad to think if we signed Higuain two seasons ago we'd probably be well clear in the league now.

I guess €40 million looked steep at the time but then again we have €200 million+ sitting in cash reserves.

Higuain. Meh. We have Yaya Sanogo.

Higuain would have won us the league single handed. Wasn't long ago half of this thread were calling him a bottler after he missed a peno in the copa america and saying he wasn't good enough for us. I'd love to see them say that now he's banging in goals for the fun of it while we watch giroud miss 40 chances before getting a goal.

It's fine saying all this about Higuain, but the same could be said about Suarez or any number of players. There's reasons the deal didn't go through, we signed Ozil in the end.

Higuain would be a great option to have right now but if we had signed him would we have signed Özil and Sanchez? I'm not so sure!

Yeah I definitely think Sanchez would have been signed as that was a year later. It's hard to tell with Ozil, apparently he became available late on in that transfer window and we would have had the funds for him still IMO. So it's possible Higuain and Ozil could have been signed.

I don't blame Arsenal and Wenger for the Higuain deal falling through, as a price had been agreed and then Real Madrid upped it to a ridiculous amount at the last minute. You can't be taken for a ride by clubs either.
