    This is terrible news, but what I would really like to know is enough detail to determine if these incidents fit in with certain ideas I have about X. Whereupon I will fold this into my never ending ranty narrative on the evils of X.

    Where X may be migrants, travellers, youths or any distinctive grouping of people to which I am not affiliated.

    In all honesty, I genuinely fear for the future of Ireland with incidents like these. As L.C said above, we have an unimaginable breakdown in the justice system which I truly believe is leading us towards a future in which gangs of vigilantes will patrol residential areas with a rough reputation and deal out mob justice. It happened in the 80s with the Concerned Parents Against Drugs movement and culminated with an unfortunate addict being in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting beaten to death on Basin St by an angry mob.

    Make no mistake, I believe the people who did it were scumbags, particularly as the person they killed was in all probability just an addict and not a violent criminal, but the ultimate fault lay then where it lies now - with a government that is totally blind to the reality of life for people who have to live in areas infested by criminals who are routinely walking away from court with grins on their faces.

    Vigilantism happens when the public loses faith in the justice system. In the 80s it happened because people believed that the authorities had lost control of the drug wars situation and given up, and right now in my opinion people are starting to believe that the authorities have lost control of the anti-social / young gangland situation and are not trying to address it.

    One way or another it's going to end in devastation if those in power don't get their f*cking acts together and deal with it.

    Why? It's a tactic as old as time can be. Want to justify a war or violence and stir up hate? Part of your campaign will be to go on about the way they treat women and children as part of the build up.

    That's about it, isn't it?

    Essentially, sectarianism being the other one. Some intellectualise it to give it a cloak of respectability, but when you dig down, that's what you find.

    The justice system is an industry

    If they really deal with it they are all out of a job

    Turkeys and Christmas and all of that

    Protect your family and property don't expect any sort of justice from the system

    1) Danish girl gets fined for illegal possession of pepper spray after falling victim to a sexual assault (Hang on, The Backwards Man did try shoehorn some racist agenda in from the very beginning on behalf of the OP).

    2) In a completely unrelated story, scumbag gets off with slap on the wrist for viciously assaulting clubber (Oh no, the perp is ... wait for it ... Nigerian !!).

    In unrelated thread number three, the OP begins a discussion on two very local and abhorrent gang rapes in Tallaght. Was there not enough bashing of brown people and your favorite religion perhaps ?

    "Nodin, have you any evidence of motive ?"

    "Your honour, we now have two very vague mentions of the perpetrator's ethnicity and the topic of sexual and physical assault from two previous threads, I will be pushing for a guilty verdict."

    This is just wrong mate. First of all the people involved were in COCAD, not the CPAD which was in the 1980s. Second of all Dwyer was at one time a drug dealer before succumbing to his own product, he was in the company of serious criminals when a scrap broke out between that group and a group of anti-drugs activists. Dwyer at the time was a very sick man and died after getting a blow to the stomach, he wasn't set upon by a vicious mob or anything like that. His death was seized upon as a tool to try and discredit COCAD which was generally a popular movement by working class communities who suffered terribly in the face of official state neglect.

From what I can see, the OP's favorite thread is "European Immigration Crisis Discussion" and they aren't too fond of welcoming in undocumented, single, young, Middle Eastern and North African men based on recent disturbing events from Germany and Scandinavia. etc. But this has anything to do with this thread because ... ?

    Given the numbers now living in tallaght, a series of assaults by two unrelated groups like this might be unusual or rare, but I doubt if its the first time its happened. It would seem that the Gardaí have, however, found one group at least.
