    Fair point.

I'd ask the questions anyway though. If only to gauge if I'm dealing with an honest seller :)

A couple of ads for a Honda Legend:

    Here's the first one: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-legend-salon/10979160
€2850, 80K miles, NCT to April.

And here's the second one: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/car/11147346
€1950, 80K miles, NCT to April.

Which one would you pick?

    I'd have neither.

Sorry, but a Honda, not matter what they do will never get into the club of a proper branded luxo barge

Disagree that they're not luxobarges, I feel they are and there's nothing wrong with the Honda brand. Or would it be a proper brand if they'd stuck on some Accura stickers like they do similarly with fancy Toyotas :p

I'd have neither either though :D

Very old (looking) now, max tax with very little poke out of the V6 and of course FWD. Plenty of nicer fish in the sea.

    "i'd have neither" :-)

I'd take the cheaper of the 'two'.

They're savage thirsty yokes too. Worse than an equivalent sized German V8.

That's the same car in both ads. No?

They are the same car, is it me or does it look like it's had a shunt at the back? Bumper seems badly aligned.

Probably the only V8 you can buy that avoids max tax on the engine displacement system. Only has NCT until March though, asking €2,450.

Good thing I'm broke atm, because if I had 1.5k, I'd be all over that :P

I do surely I wanted one in years they are brilliant and silky smooth but they are reasonably economical for a big cruiser. Even the older model is still a class looking motor I'm on. .

Just a quick update on this - I've (finally) joined the luxobarge club. Picked up a GS300, absolutely love it, it's some machine for the money. I can suffer the tax for the sake of the low price, the comfort and the power, and I'm surprised at the fuel economy, 8.9l in mix of motorway and city.

Stuck my 03 trusty Accord, that I'd owned for 9 years, up on DD, was going to post the ad in the bangernomics thread, but the first guy that called me bought it :). He actually knew my mechanic, so he was able to check the service history directly...

Hoping to have several years of trouble-free luxobarge motoring ahead of me!

Congrats, can I ask what you got it for? 8.9l is 27mpg which is pretty good. Curious what it would be like at a constant 120 on the motorway.
    any pics? Spec?

Thanks lads. It's the GS300, without the sat nav, but with basically everything else - even the glass on the speedo/rev counter dims, or brightens, depending on external ambient light. Beige leather, power everything, incl lumbar, it's just a really nice place to be.

It was actually mentioned earlier in the thread, was being sold from a garage on behalf of someone. Went to see it, made an offer, managed to do a deal :). I think they were glad to get rid of it, to be honest. Sold my accord for a great deal for the buyer too, felt it only fair to share the love.

Don't have interior pics as I'm in the office, but here's an external view...

It's better than that. It's about 32mpg. Really surprised as my is250 is stuck around 10.2.

The handiest way I know to convert to mpg from l/100km is to divide it under 282: 282/8.9 = 32mpg

That's the one, Truckermal, will stand you that pint :). I had actually phoned about that one previously, after viewing a few different ones I went and had a look at it. Got a deal, well within luxobarge money.

Thanks all for the good wishes!

    Yep 282 is pretty accurate.

Working it out from common sense - take the figure in litres (8.9) then divide it by 4.54 =1.96 gallons per 100km.
Same as 1.96 gallons per 62.1 miles.

    62.1 miles divided by 1.96 = 31.68 mpg

    **(8.9 × 31.68) = 282**
