Does Boards have a culture anymore?

I get annoyed when AH is used for serious threads, which is where the issue lies....people being too thick and lazy to find the right forum to post in.

fcuk reddit. It's only good for some MS keys and even then it sucks and is full of dodgy characters.

I will take old boards culture any day, even if it is a bit PC in some areas.

If your 'hilarious' signature is anything to go by, you're definitely more suited to boards as opposed to Reddit.

Its just business, they want a larger audience for more money.

A larger audience means more opportunity for butt-hurt and lost money.

So butt-hurt counter measures had to be implemented.

That is why the hug-box culture has grown.

It would normally be called a circle-jerk but thats too phallic and cis for БФards.

These things might not have been funny or whatever but at least it was AH, it had it's own atmosphere, what is distinct about AH nowadays? You get lots of people and threads but anything special?

Boards culture is two posters derailing a thread by arguing amongst themselves ad nauseum until a thread is closed. Pro tip - as a general rule, anything past page 3 (i use 30 posts per page) is generally bullsh!t.

The monetization of this website, as is the case with all forms of social media, has led to its slow decline. There is so much censorship on this site so as not to upset corporate sponsors and advertisers that its laughable.

It's full of over sensitive moderators and a clique of "regulars" which rotates over time. This clique is generally made up of 20 or so posters who have managed to amass something in the region of 10,000 posts in under 12 months (seriously guys? go outside). The moderators are generally part of this clique also and wave their banhammer around with wanton abandon, oppose their views or encroach upon their rules at your peril.

Boards used to be a place to go to where you could ask for advice in the various forums about various things. Now if you need advice you either get no reply, or have the high horse brigade berate you for getting yourself into a position which leads to you needing advice.

This site has seriously become a bit of a sh1thole, but I find myself unable to quit it. I suppose I've become a habitual reader of the site (i post VERY little due to reasons mentioned above) and it's just an automatic go-to place for me when online.
It also helps that the vbulletin layout is very user friendly on Opera mobile.

To be honest, I was quietly pleased with the outage last week, as it almost forced my hand in ignoring the site henceforth. Once the "New" site is launched I'm sure I will say goodbye for good, because the new design is absolutely woeful and counter intuitive. Its already a pain the hole trying to navigate the site ("Topics" menu? Really?). When I can no longer use the "old" vbulletin skin I'm gone.

Then I can finally forget about the cesspit this site has become and reminisce about when it was actually useful and enjoyable.

I used to love this site. *sigh*

Boards doesn't have such prevalence of the shinnerbot vs blueshirt thing going on, Ill give it that.
Here its mostly kept within politics forums.

Over on reddit ireland its constantly in your face in an unfunny forced hilarity style.

I'm sure many of you remember Biggins as well. Was never a fan but fair play to the man he had an unwavering sense of self importance.

Others I remember more fondly are Dudess, Outlaw Pete, Abi and probably a few more if I rack my brain. Probably all still posting under new accounts but haven't picked up on it if so.
