Returning to work after long term illness

    Wondering if anyone could give me some tips on returning to work. I work in the civil service and have tried to go back last year and lasted a month. I have been absent due to panic, anxiety and depression.

    pinkstars, you have to take it 1 day at a time. If you need some time away from your desk etc talk to your supervisor and explain to them that this could happen and you will need to do it.

    Normally in cases like this- specifically where depression is one of the diagnosed reasons for being out of work- in a civil service context- you are supposed to be forwarded by Peoplepoint to the CMO. The CMO will assess you, whether you're ready to return to work- and whether or not specific work place accommodations are appropriate in your case. They will do a write up offering an opinion (but not diagnosing a specific course of action) for your local personnel officer. On receipt of this opinion- personnel will normally contact you at your home contact details- and depending on the Department- may invite you in to discuss the situation and come up with a suitable course of action to try to get you back to work.........

    Its all geared at trying to get you back to work.
