    folks,
whats the difference between 'cold' roof attic and warm roof attic? and is it possible to convert a cold roof attic to a warm roof attic?

and P.S. my 'search forum' function isn't working lately for boards.ie, is it working for ye?

Cold roof: Insulation/airtightness layer in the ceiling joists.

Warm roof: Insulation/airtightness layer in the rafters.

If you ever plan to use the attic, warm roof is the way, but can be trickier with detailing.

Both of these are cold roofs.

What you describe as a warm roof is a warm attic, but a cold roof.
