Thanks Aquos, picked mine up earlier.

Set it up partially and works a dream so far.

    Thanks again!

Did anyone find a USB t2 tuner that will work with the wetek? Would be great to set it up with both.
    Thanks,

Don't know about this one, but I have seen talk of those with other boxes favoring playstation TV , they can be got for 20-25 euro. Might be worth looking into to see it it plays nice with these.

Plenty of tutorials on YouTube, don't think we should be getting into how we add them on here to be honest.

I'm just after getting mine, opened the box and I'm going to leave it till tomorrow, too tired now.
Thanks Aqous, I can not wait to try it out.

I'm going to be mainly using mine to record FTA Satellite and watch stuff from USB and some youtube, I have awful internet.

Would I be better off installing android? I would like to add a saorview tuner at some stage too

Let us know how you get on setting up the satellite site of things, I haven't even tried to get that up and running on mine, when I saw it wasn't as straight forward as connecting in my two cables from my Sky HD box and doing a scan, I just left it :)

I've got mine going. The VDR was easier to set up and it was ok but everybody was banging on about tvheadend and I got a dose of FOMO and had to give it a go. More awkward to get going and not much difference to my untrained, uninformed eye. I'm just flapping around trying to keep my set up as simple as I can. Haven't a clue about most of stuff talked about here tbh. :-D

From reading the other thread the tv head end is what you want if you want to share the sat signal over the ip address.

Jakdublin is yours recording as well with vdr?

Yes it was when I had it enabled but I only recorded a couple of minutes of something I was watching as a test. I've just set to record with tvheadend and I think you can't watch something and record at the same time. Maybe there's a way around it but I'm fairly new to all this stuff.

Thanks Aquos, really appreciate all you did in sourcing and delivering the box. I'm very grateful.

Like your sky box you need two LNB feeds to watch one channel and record another. I haven't tried the satellite but will give it s go soon

What kind of TV? I have a samsung one and had to turn on Anynet+ and allow the box in those settings. It's called something different on each brand of TV like Bravia Sync on Sony or SimpLink on LG.

Thanks. It's a Samsung. Played around with Anynet+ for a bit last night but it could see "No Device".

I use CEC for the Raspberry Pi already but it so long since I set that up I can't remember the procedure.

I'll have to check the TV manual.

Thanks Aquos for doing this, got mine and just need time to start playing around with it now.

I think any of the 'help' questions would be better asked on the other thread.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057531921

or people could have a read over it and see if their questions have already been answered there.

Supplied HDMI cable wouldn't work for me, substituted in another and voila - the beautiful screen of Kodi :)

I'm glad I read back over this thread. I thought I had a dud box. :)

    Dud HDMi cables.
    Dodgy plug adapters.
    Boot loops.

    And TVheadend-gate.

    All easily remedied ;)

I plugged the box in through my amp last night, and the screen is pink. I then tried a better HDMI cable, same thing.

Plugged the box straight to my projector, without using the amp, and it displayed perfectly.

Dunno what the issue is :confused::confused:

But, I will be using it as a backend server. So once its setup, I wont be plugging it to a display anyway

    Try disabling CEC.

Thanks Aquos76 for all the organising. got the wetek up and running last night on both Android n Openelec.

Btw, also had a dud HDMI cable so if there's another group buy, maybe worth mentioning it to sales as something to look out for.

I actually mentioned it shortly after order number two, there was a few issues on that order with the supplied mains chargers and hdmi cables, they wanted me to round up any faulty ones and send them back, to much hassle to be honest especially when it was easily rectified.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭stanley1

is it possible they might supply fitted 13A plugtop with power supply for next order.

Highly doubt it to be honest, by supplying the 3 pin adaptor they are covered, albeit that 3 pin adaptor is crap.

Spent the night setting it up last night, including the Satellite input. Works perfectly, and a great learning experience, although I'd like to be able to narrow down the channel list to exclude the paid/scrambled ones.

One quick question though, and I know this isn't the spot for it, but I'm still not fully sure after much Googling and thread reading.

When using Tvheadend, and when watching the satellite channels on it (through Kodi) -- the channels aren't being streamed are they? As in, they're not using bandwidth when watching on the tv through tvheadend are they? Just the little buffering at the start before playing the channel had me wondering..!
