Ok girls, let me know when you're finished and we can start talking about the game again!

I don't know if you saw, but Ozil tweeted during the match with his feet up, watching the match. No apparent bandaging/moon boot or anything like that. Guess that can be viewed as a good thing.

Hopefully Ozil was ill today rather than injured might be why he watched from home. Might be just mind games for Chelsea.

Having him and Sanchez back is huge for next Sunday and the push on from there

Anyone know how we stand on corresponding fixtures now? I know we drew with Liverpool and lost to Stoke in the away matches.

Them stats don't make the slightest difference and I never no why people trot them out

Last I checked we were +2, now we're +3. Though we got 10/12 from the next 4 fixtures last season.

Away form is the thing indeed.

We're missing a decent midfield pairing and have huge problems when teams attack us.

We're conceding a lot of goals away as a result.

Off the top of my head maybe 10-12 in the last 5 away games?

So either we outscore teams away with Alexis and Ozil back or Eleny does the business till Coq and Caz return.

Coq's now set for a Feb return. Only one league game left in Jan.

Incidentally Welbeck and Wilshire back in Feb too.

I would have loved for Welbeck to be on the field today. Would have done more than Walcott.

Scored 7, conceded 10 in last 6 away matches, 6 points. Great stuff.

That is terrible terrible form to be fair. Our only win was against relegation certainties. :(

    Home games in that time:

    1-0 W against Newcastle
    2-0 W against Bournemouth
    2-1 W against City
    3-1 W against Sunderland

One excellent result, 3 pars. Those par wins are great and will win a team the league when not dropping points against, Stoke, Liverpool, Southampton, West Brom and Norwich.

Away form has gone to the dogs. Cant see it getting much better with what we have left but it will have to.

    Away:
    Bournemouth
    Man United
    Tottenham
    Everton
    West Ham
    Sunderland
    Man City

Didn't Alexis bang in a hat trick away to Leicester?

He'll be back for all these, bang, smack, all these punks go back in their box, title goes to The Emirates.

    Nice one.

Would that win us the league this year coupled with good home form?

Listened to the game on the oul radio.
By the sounds of it, Cech showed the importance of a decent keeper a few times during the game.
He really is a top class keeper.

The good thing is the Utd game isn't till 28th Feb.

We have three home games and Bournmouth away between now and then.

9 home games left vrs 7 away

And a possible FA Cup round 5 match and Barcelona before United. :P

Home form will be huge, City really struggling away too

All this talk of our away games but we have 9 home games left

    Chelsea
    Southampton
    Leicester
    Swansea
    West Brom
    Walford
    Palace
    Norwich
    Villa

we could easily get 25 points there.

My point isn't about fixture congestion but rather that Caz is the only player not expected back before then.

We're teetering on the edge tbh but if we can just eek out a couple of home wins we can push on to a point where we're stronger.

    Interesting question.

That plus good home for would mean say dropping 10 points.

Winning 24/27 home and 14/21 away.

38 more points which would mean a total of 82.

    Yeah, that'd take it surely.

If we win away to City, defo.

It's impossible to know though. So much depends on returning players.

Fixtures don't look good until about...April :p Any word of any more signings? It's gonna be a slog. Maybe Madrid will buy Aguero?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭JustTheOne

I have no doubt if Santi Sanchez werent injured we would have a 10 point lead now:(

But everyone has suffered injuries so that's just the way it is.

Anyone find the after match interview on sky a bit odd? Having Butland and Cech interviewed together and asking Butland if he learns anything from watching Cech etc, and then getting him to present the motm award to Cech? I found it a little strange

Just listened back to Gilesy there.

Blaming a player who went off when we were winning because we drew in injury time.

Blaming a player who wasn't actually on the pitch for conceding a goal.

    It's bizarre.

I blame Pascal Cygan for us not beating Stoke today.
