I think there should be. I think the damage was done before he was in charge and not even the marvellous Kenny could have saved us

But he will at some stage they aren't snubbing him, Id imagine they just haven't got round to it. Just like they haven't got round to most things they were meant to.

They should use the one of him on the jax.

It's a perfect analogy for his term.

Nothing story. Some portraits are done quickly, others years later. There's no norm. It will get done at some stage.

    Give him his picture.

But to save money just take a photo and do a photoshop filter on it, one of those ones that makes a photo look like a painting.

    Seconded.

Headline would suggest he's unhappy about it, but it was the paper who contacted him and he doesn't seem to care.

If it's state policy to do it, then do it sometime.

If every Taoiseach has had a portrait done. Then he deserves one. Regardless of our views on him. It will become part of history and discussion like all portraits on the era they were created or person represented.

And that is not unusual. There will be a portrait in time.

It should be painted in the blood of the victims of his decisions

Non story. It'll have to be done before they do Kenny's anyway, as a matter of chronology. Though going ahead with Michael Ds makes it seem a little worse.

    Its a none story,
His portrait should happen eventually, you can't white wash history by not doing a portrait.
You also can't decide who was good enough or bad enough for a portrait as time goes on,

Time to save money and as suggested above do a photo. I saw him at drifting around at an event recently and apart from the usual FF arselickers the reaction to him behind the formal politeness was deeply hostile.

Bertie planted the landmines and they went off when Biffo took office. He was poor in his performance, after that happened

Photos would be a cost saving exercise for any future portraits,

However the problem with photos is they can fade alot when compared to a painting so they don't stand up to time very well

You don't need to print it though, just display it on a flat screen done up a bit to look like a picture frame.

The stars on the ground seen on Hollywood Boulevard are paid for by the person who is named in them, if Biffo or any politician wants a portrait let them pay for it.

Paintings fade and get layers of dirt over them. They are done once and cannot be reproduced if damaged. Photos can be reproduced ad nauseam: there might be a few euro to be recouped by flogging Cowens to the faithful. I'm sure you could pick one up reasonably cheaply.

Realistically, even if they're bang average, they'd still be a few rungs further up the ladder than Cowen. Still, I don't see the need to bring his appearance into it.

Cowen with his greedy pension (for doing what?) . A pension bigger than many other Prime Ministers in Europe are actually paid. He can >>>>> off back to his bog. I know some people who committed suicide, others who emigrated, other who had their lives ruined as a result of our greedy corrupt politicians in this country.

    Was Cowen corrupt though?
