I have it, put the EVGA SuperNova G2 750W into it and fits perfectly, the 950W should fit just fine too.

The case it damn near perfect and I highly, highly recommend it.

Sweet I'm just thinking over time a higher wattage PSU might be better less strain. Hoping to get a a high end GPU so figured have one that can feed the power. But more so then anything I want a modular PSU

For a single gfx card I'd imagine 950w is way overkill.

What kind of card are you planning on? I've an OC'd GTX 970 on mine and the power usage is very low. You'd need a whopper of a card or sli/crossfire to need a 950W

Dual 390x and if you had a ton of other components, overclocks running, would still be a decent way off 950w...

Maybe a triple card SLI setup either.

For any single GPU (apart from the obvious single pcb dual cards like the 295x2), a decent 550W is loads.

Specifically for Nvidia, a GTX980 for example has plenty of headroom on a 430w power supply in a normal system (few hard drives, i5, etc).

I'm hoping to have an asus x99 sabertooth and a pretty beefy i7 depending in if I can get it at a decent discount.

The reason being I'm going to go back to collage and finish my degree while I will be gaming I also will have collage work , edditing 4k RAW video/ photography work weddingsband multiple other kinds / as well as design work. So my hope is to eventually have and sli or cross fire hence the bigger PSU for over time. Just planing ahead essentially.

Quick question regarding previous discussion on Gaming cards vs Quadro cards. If like myself you have an AMD gaming card already, could you then get an nVidia Quadro and stick it into the same PC (assuming your motherboard has the available slot, and your PSU has the appropriate available connections, if needed)? Not for using the 2 different cards at the same time, but if gaming use the gaming card and if using programs like CAD then use the Quadro. Is there an issue with 2 different drivers being installed? How practical is such a setup?

Running green and red teams together can work, but its usually a right pain, not worth it IMO.

my one of these just stopped working

Power going to it but liquid isnt moving.

Reason im asking is because the only difference between the 2 setups would be the GPU. So if it was possible to have 2 different gpu's in the same PC and switch between the 2 depending on which application you are running, then it would save having to buy a whole new pc.
Would it make things easier if you had a dual boot setup on the PC? Say 2 separate OS's on different HDD/SSD. Then all you need to do is restart the pc to switch between them.

Well Linus' recent 7 gamers 1 PC build had 2 Xeon E5s and 7 r9 nano's, as well as custom watercooling and that was drawing ~1600W under load. So yeah, even dual SLI should be well off 950W.

The only difference is a 950W 80+ only pulling 450W would be way more efficient than a 550W pulling the same, due to max efficiency being @~50% draw. And you've way more headroom for upgrading. And most high wattage PSUs are fully modular anyway.

Pump gone on it. Was it still under warranty?

Quick one on PSU' s. I'm looking for the cheapest options when it comes to fully sleeved. The Corsair cx450m are sleeved for example but its pretty see through and doesn't continue all the way to the end. Seems a bit poor seeing that with good cable management, most of the sleeved part would be hidden. And only the few inches connecting to the mobo would be the most visible (the bit not sleeved).
    Am I way off here??
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

That was my thought, going to order a PSU next week. If money allows.

Whats the current SOP on builds these days? Mindfactory? Heard someone mention skinflint or something.

First stage of buying for my long, long overdue upgrade. Just bought an i5 6400 & Asrock Z170 Fatal1ty Gaming K6.

Yes, I know it's a ridiculously lush and frivolous motherboard :pac: But I don't upgrade very often and damnit I like pretty things with nice features I'll probably never use. :D

Rest of the build I'm thinking:
DDR4 - whatever is reasonable, probably Corsair.
PSU - might splurge some more on a XFX or Seasonic fully modular
    Cooler - H100i

GPU wise... I was thinking 980Ti, but I might just wait with Pascal being so close.

Case wise, it's now between the 600C and this beauty EVGA just unveiled at CES

    Thought? Comments? Abuse? :pac:

Is the 600C even suitable for a gaming PC. It looks like it might but it doesn't have the words 'gaming case' emblazoned all over it like the EVGA case so I'm not sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,034 ✭✭✭Sonics2k

That case is a thing of beauty, but as AC says I'd wait for some reviews of it for actual gaming suitability first before buying it.

It really shows that beauty is in the eye of the .......
I think that evga case looks awful.

While I agree with Almighty Cushion's sentiment, the name "Gaming Case" is just a jokey placeholder as they haven't come up with a permanent name for it yet.

I've been wondering, will the 600c be able to squeeze in an EEB board?

Case Motherboard Support Mini-ITX, MicroATX, ATX, E-ATX

E-ATX and EEB are the same size 12x13, but whether the screw holes actually line up is a different story.

It's only in prototype phase atm, but some time "2016" is all EVGA have committed to.

wish they had color options other than red

Seems it'll be a partial match. TekSyndicate did it with a 750D so it should be fine.

Itll be a fun build when I finally get started.

They do... The Z170 Extreme 6 and the Gaming K6 are exactly the same motherboard. Only difference is the Fatal1ty branding and the Fatal1ty mouse port.

    ASRock-Z170-Motherbaords.jpg

(That's a Extreme7, which has an extra PCIe slot and 2 extra M.2 slots, but you can see the colour scheme. Can't find a small picture showing the K6 and Extreme6 in one, but trust me they're identical.. I checked! The k6 is also around 30 quid cheaper :D)

I assume you're looking at EEB boards for a WS dual-xeon board & umpteen sticks of ram? Is it just for the craic or actually needed for something?

Bitta both. I've had a major thing for Asus WS boards since I picked up an P5E3 WS Pro a few years back. I've been frugal in keeping the same CPU for 8yrs now so time to treat myself for once.
