or even long enough to remember Charlie George, John Radford, Malcolm McDonald (holds the record for most goals in his first season, established 1st division striker who transformed that form into the Arsenal team also) dont worry if you dont remember them, you can always google them

    you see potential Henry
    I see potential Chamak

The point being anyone can cherry pick examples to make a point whilst ignoring the ones that don't fit the point you're trying to push.

The quality of the player is what matters, not who they play for.

We could easily be in for 2 midfielders when you consider Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky will all be leaving this summer/finished as first team players

While Saturday is important the one I really really want us to win well is the game against Liverpool.

Sanchez has been ruled out of the FA Cup tie with Sunderland at the weekend, not sure if he'll be available for Liverpool.

Wenger: "The bad news of the week is that Alexis is not quite ready.

It is a precaution because of his hamstring, and it takes a few more days. He’s not bad but he’s not ready.

Tomas Rosicky is not far, he’s back in full training next week, so should be available soon. Mikel [Arteta] is available."

Bugger! That means at best he will be on the bench for the Liverpool game.

Klopp brings high intensity pressing game to Anfield and everyone pulls a hammie...

Sounds like the same thing Wenger did for years at Arsenal. Thankfully he has pulled back on that tactic, we sit back a bit now, and whist we still have alot of injuries we seem to be doing alright.

I read Man Utd are eyeing up Lukaku , and Man City eyeing up Vardy. Obviosuly they never got the memo and havent heard,
you wont win nuttin buying an established PL striker , guvnor .

Guardiola coming to The Emirates according to Merson... Id love it.

It's not happening. Wenger will never resign and the board don't care enough to sack him.

Surely he'll have to retire eventually...

I reckon if Wenger wins the league this season he might bow out on a high. I think if he can win the league this season he deserves another contract but I'm probably in the minority at the moment.

I think if we came second he probably deserves a new contract.

I think were getting closer each season to his vision of what the new stadium would bring.

Not as far fetched as you think. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see AW bow out after a PL win, it's also fairly well known that he's sweet on Pep as a successor. It'd tie out.

The last few pages; anyone suggesting Jamie Vardy or Troy Deeney as viable options for us to sign - it'll be difficult to take anything you say seriously going forward.

He'll definitely see out his contract anyway, I think it's until the end of next season?

I wonder if Pep would arrive as assistant until the end of the season and take over then as Wenger retires. Give him time to adjust to the EPL.
    That could be the plan.

I think it's generally regarded as the 'just sign somebody' school of thought.

Assistant manager Pep. Wouldn't that be something? :D

These flash in the pan strikers that we see in the league nearly every season very rarely work out. Wouldn't be happy with Vardy (not that we'll go near him), half a good season isn't exactly "proven".

    A proven PL goal scorer.
Watching Arsenal we play everyone off the park but havent had a clinical finisher who maximises the quality of the other 9 outfield players, since Van Persie.

We have dosh, we are in a great position.
We have had plenty experiments with non-PL forwards in recent year that didnt work out. Id just like to see Wenger spot a talent in a striker playing in one of the English leagues.

Giroud is great, another strker will take some pressure and expectation and game time off him.

    Lukaku is the only one.

Suarez was the only one for years before that.

The rest are all unavailable or not good enough.

That'd be best case scenario along with a league win. Would pep be happy playing the assistant role after managing the 2 best squads in the world though?

Just did a search on this Kike Marin fella. Last summer he said we were in for Higuain, Benzema, Cavani etc etc... He's a click lover! He just loves a good click!!!

Which lands you with the likes of Andre Santos, Park and Squillaci.

now I understand Wengers transfer policy ..someones got to pay for that big watch on his hand...

Buy an existing PL striker with a proven goal scoring record in the PL. Arsenal PLC will struggle to sell alot of shirts in an already crowded market.

Buy an non-PL striker from North Africa. Arsenal PLC well potential to sell a **** load of merchandise in a new market.

back to balance sheet football I see . :P

I hate when people make utterly idiotic points like this one. The marginal merchandising gain from someone like Aubameyang in Africa is close to zero.

Also, clubs make fvck all money from shirt sales, and certainly not from the selling of more than they would have anyway due to the addition of a new player. This has been discussed time and time again and people still don't seem to get it.

That memo would have saved City a fair whack if they'd looked at it before signing Bony. And Utd of course have been winning loads with their current transfer policy...

So basically you'll read any old ****e and post it in here once it suits your point? I'll bet anything City won't go near Vardy. I was pretty clear in my rating of Lukaku earlier.

    Pep is still managing Bayern..

I do think winning the league would be a great send off to Wenger and he undoubtedly is going to have a big say in the replacement so having a Guardiola lined up would be incredible, but its looks highly highly likely that hes off to City.
