North Korea test Nuke

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake detected 19 kilometers from North Korea’s Sungjibaegam nuclear test site was “artificial,” according to South Korea’s YTN news agency.

The quake had a depth of ten kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey said, while Chinese earthquake networks put it at zero. A 4.9-magnitude earthquake in a similar location was recorded before confirmation of North Korea’s third nuclear test in 2013 at the site.

Officials in Seoul are checking the details of the earthquake with the meteorological office, a government official said. The government is convening an emergency meeting, according to the official Yonhap news agency.

North Korea may be preparing to test thermonuclear weapons capabilities at its Punggye-ri nuclear test site, Yonhap News reported earlier this month.

The earthquake follows North Korea’s threat in September that it is ready to use atomic weapons against the U.S. at any time and that its main nuclear facility was fully operational. The regime in Pyongyang has often launched missiles or conducted nuclear tests to raise tensions as it seeks economic and political concessions from South Korea and the U.S.

NORTH KOREA SAYS WILL MAKE 'SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT' AT 12:30 P.M. (11 P.M. ET)

North Korea is like a stupid yet dangerous dog. Instead of wagging its tail when looking for attention, it growls, but one of these days it's going to bare too many teeth and some poor eejit (China probably, it was their pet to start with) is going to have to put it down.

I'm surprised with all the intelligence, satellite etc. that South Korea didn't fore-warn of this outcome.

Arent Iran and Saudi also at it? Throw in a bit of ISIS. Maybe Pakistan and India will do their biannual nuclear stand off! Everyone wants WWIII to start, but we are all just too polite to start it off.

North Korea is water tight. The intelligence outside of it is pretty much non-existent. Apparently after Kim Jong-il kicked the bucket. N. Korea didnt reveal it to the world for days, as they want to see whether the news would spread to South Korea and it didnt. Very little info leaves N.Korea. I doubt the NSA is much use as there is probably about 5 phone lines in the place

I seriously doubt N.Korea will build a half decent nuclear bomb. It took the US decades to make a seriously powerful one with tons of resources. N.Korea has none of that. They are literally ISIS without the internet, resources and focused on starving its own people.

Got a notification of that quake on my phone just before 2am. Can't remember ever getting one from that region before so had a quick look at the map. Seems to be a very remote area, apart from this. Gulag 16, which is approx 3km from the epicentre. Probably had the poor bastards from the gulag dig out the underground blast chamber. Edit : Link to EMSC site with seismic details. http://www.emsc-csem.org/Earthquake/earthquake.php?id=480627

The idea of a nuclear war is scary. For anyone that fully doesn't realise it I suggest they watch the 80's documentary called "Threads". It is the most scariest horror show you'll ever see despite not being an actual horror movie.

You can drive from St Petersburg, on the Baltic, to the border of North Korea without leaving Russia.

Ye'd have to stop at least once for a piss though.

I think this is another large methane fart from North Korea trying to show-off again thinking the world will kneel before them in fear.

Verbal Methane contamination procedure has been initialised and deactivated. It was just a burp.

It's not like they would ever launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike on the South anyway, it would be suicide. Even if they managed to reduce a significant portion of Seoul to dust, the ROK is still a technologically superior military to that of the North. Plus, the ROK have a long standing relationship with the US and are one of their strongest allies in the region. And you can bet your bottom dollar that Uncle Sam wouldn't sit quietly on the sidelines if a nuclear conflict was to kick off on the peninsula.

I have Coca Cola and Mentos in my house, so my nuclear weapons program is 10 years ahead of North Koreas

A war is extremely unlikely - the Kim dynasty and inner circles are not remotely interested in trading their opulent comfortable lifestyles for the chopping block

It's just another chess move to try to receive concessions from an increasingly weary regional and international community

Lots of people commit mass murder before committing suicide.

The leadership of North Korea is collectively deranged. I feel very sorry for the ordinary population of the "Democratic People's Republic".

I think given by the fact that the vast majority of their country live in seemingly absolute poverty and rampant starvation shows that they really don't care about most of their own country people, so they probably wouldn't see an issue with bombing South Korea. The wee c*nt Kim will be in a bunker somewhere with his family (except for the ones he wants to feed to dogs..)

Sadly the world is buggered. They probably got pissed off at how much attention Daesh was getting.

I'm amazed North Korea hasn't collapsed by now. It just seems to be such a horrible regime that an uprising should have happened.
