yep if only he was a Drogba ...

Premier League Golden Boot: 2006–07,[198] 2009–10[199]

    UEFA Champions League: 2011–12
    FA Community Shield: 2005, 2009

ffs go back to your match attak cards.

That's pretty silly. Dismiss stats and post other stats to prove your point.

Out of curiosity, is anyone involved in that Chelsea trophy haul automatically better than everyone at Arsenal?

Facts and numbers are meaningless. You can make numbers fit any point you want to make.
Thats why policticians use them all the time, they can get a number to reflect anything they want to say.

Some of you produce a number that says Giroud is better than Drogba,
I produce a list of honours Drogba has won including 2 PL Golden boots.

Some of you produce a number that says Giroud is 3rd fastest Arsenal player to 50 goals,
I can produce a list that shows Giroud has never even gotten close to breaking 20 goals in a season.

Some of you produce a number that says Giroud is one of the top PL strikers
I can prodcue a list that shows Giroud currently sits behind 5 other PL players in the Top Scorer chart and has always done that in all his time at Arsenal.

Girouds a good striker, he deserves his place in the Arsenal squad, Id just
like to see another striker get a shot, Wenger has spent years building this team and before its broken up, wouldnt it be nice to see how another striker could get on there.

I knew you'd get the hang of this debating lark!

I agree btw. I'd love a new striker, however I don't think it should come at the expense of a new DMF. I think Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck can do a job there. Welbeck is wasted on the wing imo.

I did have a chuckle myself at that :D

Replacing him certainly isn't crucial but he isn't at the level of some previous strikers we have had over last 20/25 years.

I think most Arsenal fans would like to see a new striker come in, almost all i'd say.

I know i would. I'd like it to be a player that's better than Giroud when it happens, not an easy ask but doable.

Tory Deeney would be a waste of whatever inflated price it would take to get him out of Watford.

It's hard to find that quality. In the last few years the players that have been consistently better than Giroud are Suarez, Ageuro, Rooney (maybe not any more), and so on.

Giroud doesn't score enough though, that's true.

Imagine how many Wrighty would score playing with Ozil

    What's that,?

3rd fastest player to 50 league goals in Arsenal's history after Henry & Wright and you're talking about him like he's Troy Deeney or someone.
The club, unlike your stats didn't start in 1992.

I've noticed recently that some of the fan groups who regularly mocked Arsene's '4th place trophy' are now openly making the argument that they'd rather their club came 4th than win the FA Cup :pac:

Oops, I meant in general, they linked us to so many players over the last few months, it reminds me off that they see the other papers with reporters at least trying to get scoops thru contacts etc and they don't bother but just throw in random names...

Yes it is becoming pretty common among two very popular teams in Ireland...

He probably isnt but then again, I dont think there will ever be a replacement for the likes of Bergkamp or Henry. On the flipside Giroud is miles ahead of the likes of Chamakh or Bendtner who we persisted with for a long time.
Not sure of actual minutes played but in terms of appearances Giroud is more or less level with Adebayor in the line of goals per game,

Its interesting reading wikipedia at times and you hop from page to page and player to player, (especially former players)
I didnt realise Almunia retired last year after a heart defect was detected during a medical in Italy,
or that Denilson is now plying his trade in Abu Dhabi,
or that Squillaci and Arshavin are still playing.
Diaby also had another injury which keeps him out for the season so he still has yet to play for Marseille, madness that they signed him really all things considering

Wiki really is interesting for those who are bored :P

Well then respect the club's history before the Premier League started. Your stat is wrong. Giroud is the third fastest Arsenal player to reach 50 goals in the Premier League era, not in their whole history.

I do think some of those Premier League stats are nonsense, especially when you have a player who played before and after the change and only half is career is counted.

You'd nearly rather they still had Lovren for it.

Can walk absolutely fine when your hammy goes, just can't break stride at all.

Another one for you here. courtesy of @Orbinho

Minutes per goal in PL history

    Giroud 168.4
    Drogba 168.8

Wow. Wouldn't of guessed that. Great stat. But as much as I love Giroud he is not in the same league as Drogba (as much as I dislike him).

If we were to bring in a striker I would love us to sign Edison Cavani. Such an explosive player he is. Imagine Ozil feeding him :eek:
