Where to go to get advice on master's options (guidance available in UCD?)

    Howdy,

I have finished my degree and plan to do a master's in Berlin but I am in a bit of a pickle as to what I should pursue and would appreciate some advice. I did my degree in UCD and am just wondering whether universities usually offer guidance, and, if so, whether there is such a service in UCD.

My degree is in Philosophy but I have a background in music. However, I am a bit older than most graduates at 32 so I'd prefer to do a master's in something practical which would stand to me in terms of future employment. Obviously if there was some means by which I could combine what I am already good at and experienced in into a master's it'd be great. Hence my need for some guidance!

Alternatively, are there any online resources for finding appropriate master's courses?

    Cheers.

Trinity have a careers advisory service that is free for students and recent graduates - I imagine UCD must have a similar service. Findamasters might be a good place to start, or you could try postgradireland, which might have some useful resources.

Thanks! Findamasters is handy but Postgrad Ireland is Ireland and NI only. I went into UCD today and got some help from the careers advisor which was cool. The problem is trying to find a programme that accepts philosophy grads!

Yes postgradireland is Ireland and NI only, but there are some useful resources on there that aren't country-specific. There should be plenty of programmes that accept philosophy grads - I think the main thing is to figure out what it is you'd like to do and then take it from there! Best of luck :)
