i would like sanchez to come on as a sub so he will be fully fit for the Liverpool game. then again we have stoke. i pray that these upcoming fixtures we won't have any injuries!

Yeah, this Liverpool/Stoke/Chelsea run coming up is massive.

I think we'll be glad of that three point gap.

Realistically from that table the only starter due back soon is Sanchez. Welbeck and Rosicky are benchwarners while among the others well, experience should tell us not to be pinning hopes on getting much from them before the end of the season.

Yes we need a few points buffer. We're not playing well but getting results which is what matters. Coq and Cazorla not back for ages could cost us dearly so hopefully we'll get a few new ones in.

Do loan deals count towards the 25 man squad limit? If we were to get Rabiot in with an option to buy in the summer.

I'd love Welbeck in the team right now. He'd probably start on the right ahead of Chamberlain/Campbell.

On the left instead of Theo.

I'm praying that Liverpool continue this funk they're on and that Stokealona play into our hands a bit.

Every 3 points in the next few games massive now.

From the next run of three games, we only got two points last season, one away to Liverpool, one at home to Chelsea and none away to Stoke, we need to do better than that.

    Where does Sanchez fit in?
Assumed he was still injured in my fantasy scenario :D

But as Blobby said, on the left. Walcott is great on his day, but other times he's very anonymous.

Stoke away is fairly notoriously hard for us but one thing we have in our favour is the extra games they have to play in the Capital One Cup. We have to beat them in the league there sometime!

Same goes for Liverpool, the extra game for them will certainly help us - it's a fine margins league this year.

    Nice to have options though.
Our bench has been absolutely brutal for weeks.
It will be great to have some potential game changers waiting to come on.

Welbeck is a "striker" for a start. As a winger he's well behind Walcott and Sanchez.

As far as I can see we dont have one real winger in the squad. To be honest is there really many of them about anymore?

All I was saying is that having Welbeck back would mean we have the ability to change it up a bit. Perhaps him on the right and Theo up front with Grioud coming off the bench.
It will make a big difference.

Hard to talk about wingers really. If anything Welbeck plays more like a "winger" in the classical sense (when played out wide) than most of our players but that's not how we play. However he's much like Chamberlain except probably even less effective, Chamberlain will get us corners sometimes at least.
If he is indeed back for February and stays fit for the season I doubt he'll get 5 starts unless we're missing 3 of Ozil/Sanchez/Walcott/Giroud/Chamberlain and/or Ramsey is covering in CM and can't cover RM.

People want to defend him so, so much it's pretty funny. He was a 1-in-4.5 scorer for United and less than that for us (4/25) and having scored in 2 matches in the season and a half he's been here.
EDIT: Stupid out of date stats :P He's 8 in 27 for us, about 1-in-3.4. He's been a waste of money since he signed and people's instinct to defend anything and everything the club does is just funny to watch.

I would probably have him playing ahead of Ox to be honest but I get your point. I would rather have Welbeck coming on to change a game than Gibbs though which is where we stand at the moment (Although he did score against Spurs).

I wouldn't. His dribbling is atrocious. His place is in the box to miss a couple of sitters before getting a goal.

Which player do you mean? Gibbs or Ox?

Ox will run down a blind alley but will make ground and has a 50/50 shot of a corner. Not exactly top class but better than Welbeck's running straight into someone or beating one man then falling over.

Ok but my point is and was (that you are ignoring for some reason) that Welbeck is far more useful to have on the bench when we need a goal than Gibbs.... which is where we are at the moment.
    Thats all.

He's also more useful in that scenario than Ospina.

That is my F*CKING point !!

ETA probably a bit much but I mean I would rather have him than not. Thats all

I still believe Campbell offers much more than Ox at the present time.

Wenger saying " at least one new signing" on SSN.
Hope it's not just the one though :pac:

Just windin ya up. :P Just IMO he's a benchwarmer and throwing him on to chase a game will be a pretty desperate move.

Just looking back at the 2010/11 season, we finished 12 points off the top. Sounds like we were way off the pace except that we went 2-6-3 (12/33) in our last 11 matches. Such a wasted opportunity that was.

Personally I tihnk neither offer enough which I guess is why Ramsey was playing on the right when everyone is fit.
Having Sanchez back is truly massive though.
It will be BTANS (Better than a new signing) :pac:

For me the biggest danger to our season is an injury to Ozil and the loss of Coq. Wenger seems to have at least attempted to fix the latter. Lets hope Ozil stays fit now.

Just on the 2010-11 season, 25/33 would have won the league and those 11 games were Sunderland, West Brom, Blackburn, Blackpool, Liverpool, Spurs, Bolton, United, Stoke, Villa, Fulham. The only 2 wins in there were against Blackpool and United once they'd secured the title.

Let's hope we don't do similar with a similarly difficult set of fixtures this season:

    Swansea
    Spurs
    West Brom
    Everton
    Watford
    West Ham
    Palace
    Sunderland
    Norwich
    City
    Villa

If anything I can see us going into the City match a point ahead, get a draw and just need to beat Villa to win the title. :pac:

Tough enough run now coming up in the EPL:
    Liverpool(A)
    Stoke(A)
    Chelsea(H)
    Southampton(H)

Play like we did at the weekend and we lose all 4, Stoke are going well with a potent attack, Chelsea look to be steading the ship, we know what S'ton can do. Sanchez coming back into the mix will help.

Anyone think it will all come down to the City game on the 7th May?

The thing is that after Southampton, it's Leicester and someone, maybe Bmouth.

Then it's the run in as listed above.

I mean, get though these first four games and it'd be hard for someone to catch us. Obviously we'll slip up but from looking at the competition I can't see anyone putting together 10 straight victories or anything.

It's all about how Alexis comes back IMO.
