Do 1940s houses have cavity walls?

    I am looking at buying a council built house in Dublin that was built in the 1940s. The house is cold so needs some insulation.

    I was wondering would cavity insulation be the easiest. Does anyone know if houses built at this time are likely to
    have cavity walls?

    I imagine a house of this vintage has solid walls. External insulation would be best.

    Most unlikely to be cavity at this age.

    In Ireland hardly not a chance........in UK perhaps you could see some already built in cavity from 1920ish....
