I love that I can estimate the age of other posters from what they are embarrassed by. The skirt/trousers, the OPs platform runners and those poppers tracksuit bottoms - we're all in and around the same age. :D

Lots of NOPE with that giant smiley cat face. I remember one pair of tracksuit bottoms that had nope literally plastered across the arse.
Parachute pants with all the strings hanging off them.
And then I hit the goth phase......New Rocks, spikes, Manson hoodies.

Still haven't left that last phase entirely tbh, I still fit into my 5th year clothes so wear stuff from then occasionally.

I'm still looking for jeans as comfortable as the huge baggy nope ones I lived in for about 3 years! I loved that cat face.

This is why I still have mine.....that and the fact that they're so baggy I look like a homeless person if I wear them outside :pac:

    Polyester trousers, oh the shame

isnt there some science thing where if you rub your hair off polyester it makes a spark.

polyester pants and a big hairy pubis - recipe for disaster.

I was going to mention the dreaded Snood, but apparently you can still get them in at least one shop.

I basically went around with a dog collar on my neck during my goth phase. It was a fake leather choker thingy. One day I walked into the kitchen and my brother was sitting there and said "why are you wearing a collar?!" I was quite offended at the time but he was right. He still brings it up sometimes..

There were no fashion trends in the 50s other than to dress as your father did. Short trousers until you were 11 and then dress like a middle aged man. Even the fresh style of the 60s didn't reach most of Ireland until too late for me.

Fat Christy's thread about people following the herd inspired me!

So, people of AH, what embarrassing fashion trends did your follow in your youth?

I remember wearing ridiculously baggy pants that I could clean the streets with (with a chain, of course) in the early 00s, and wearing these hideous buffalo shoes

    Something like this - http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/301425772656-0-1/s-l1000.jpg

    And - http://littlebigjoe.com/uploads/projects/25/9fe0c3507d0aec426c5a76fcf764ea85defac388.jpg

I also went through a goth phase when I wore fishnet tights on my arms and had blue eyebrows and a white face, there were many embarrassing phases.

Oh Fat Christy, what an inspiration! Love that poster. :pac:

Neon tights with mini skirts. I had big baggy flared trousers as well!!
    Crimped hair. Ridiculous eyeshadow! Uggs!

That's all I can think of right now. :/

Knee high white socks with "Bay city Rollers" written up the side of them:o

I never really got into fashion trends tbh. I just wore similar things to what I wear now.

One thing I remember was O'Neills tracksuit pants. Everyone fecking wore them. I hated them with a passion but then got some for PE in school and secretly wore them at home all the time as they were so comfy :o

I bought a pair of raver pants in Camden market. Baggy with a pair of zips down the back of each of the upper and lower legs.
Was walking down the street of a small town one night when a girl behind me started singing "Zippity doo daa, Zippity day...." Cringing thinking about it but thought I was cool out back then.

I still wear O'Neills. Oh god, am I not with 'it' anymore?!
