I'm a fan of the Carte Noir myself. But I'm open to change.
    So what's yours?

The blue Kenco. The strong Douwe Egberts is lovely too

    Nescafe Alta Rica is lush.

    Kenco Millicano.

Nourish do some which have been made without the Alzheimer's causing chemicals.

But if you don't mind them, the Millicano is fine with some frothed milk.

Carte Noir is as close to real coffee as I've found.

I like the Nescafe Azera intenso.

My preference is Douwe Egberts gold as my go to instant coffee however i change it up a bit every now and then between nescafe alta rica or any of the other nescafe freeze dried type granules. if cart noir or kenko is on offer I would go for them also in that order. I find that if you stick to one type too long you become used to it and it no longer tastes as good.

I also grind coffee beans for the stove top maker now and then but I use more instant coffee in practice.

But the Alzheimer's causing chemicals are my favourite part.

Well, they're actually my second favourite part. The Alzheimer's causing chemicals are my favourite.

That one where she takes him back to hers on the back of her scooter and all he can think about is coffee.

Carte Noire here too. It's so creamy and smooth.

    Nescafe azera Americano

best non bitter coffee i have tasted

    Lidl's Blue Eclipse is foul

  • Registered Users Posts: 176 ✭✭Canterelle

Azera is by far the nicest, but ffs €7.60 is way too much for instant coffee. Only get it when it's on offer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,090 ✭✭✭livinsane

Nescafe Blend 37. It's almost chocolatey.

I've had the red but never the blue.
Douwe Egberts - never had it either. Showing myself up here :(
    Good recommendations!

    Instant coffee is an abomination!

You cannot beat a freshly roasted & ground cup of Joe, black & thick as bitumen.

I haven't time to roast a chicken never mind coffee grounds.

    Another vote for Millicano!
    -

And by the way, I am a serious coffee-head: usually make it fresh from grounds and fussy about flavours.

(Favourite pre-pack of "real" coffee - Starbuck's house blend)

    Favourite instant - Millicano.
And granted, Azera is quite similar.

Nescafe Collection Espresso. Used to like the Millicano as well but the Espresso was better for me.

Consensus so far is driving me towards a jar of Millicano.

Seconded. "Which instant coffee is nicest" is like asking "which puddle should I drink from". Anser, it doesn't matter, it's all freeze-dried muck.
One of these and 5 minutes:

Life is too short to drink dried mud.

My instant coffee of choice. Also, colombiana or whatever it's called for a change now and then.

I'm not even a barista, I have a coffee press and coffee from Lidl, nothing too fancy there. It's just a fact that instant coffee is filth.

    Carte noir all day

I like clipper fairtrade organic instant coffees. Tasty stuff, about the same price as many of the ones mentioned here. Lovely stuff.

Used to have a jar at work all the time but the place I'm in now most days has free coffee (machine grinds the beans etc).

Use a filter machine at home mostly so rarely have instant now tbh.

A mexican fellow put me onto the Tesco own brand. It's good. I'm lashing it back with smokes before I give them up for newyear.

Hate instant coffe. It's so watery and just seems pointless. Might as well have a tea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,311 ✭✭✭✭K-9

    Carte Noir.

Nescafe Original does the job though.

    Yep, I went there.

If this only helps one person it'll be worth it.

    Google "Aeropress".

    Edit...

    http://www.bailiescoffee.com/products/aerobie-aeropress-coffee-maker

Instant coffee is instant after a kettles boiled and tastes like poo.

Filter and French press make good coffe but are a little messy and take about 5 minutes.

Aeropress takes only 1minute and 30 seconds after kettle boiled.

    10seconds to clean.

A great cup of fresh coffee very little hassle.

Which coffee has the alzheimers causing chemicals or are they in all coffee's?

    God Love you.

I have never had a caffeine dependency (I only occasionally drink Coke or other soft drinks, one a week maybe), so I don't need it to function, so doesn't bother me.

Fair play. I'd say you're a riot at a party. You're not a member of a residents association by any chance?

They taste nice and having a nice tasting warm beverage in a temperate climate is comforting.

I hate coffee. The smell makes me want to puke. If you want to taste tea why not just have tea?

I suppose you have a problem with people who don't drink also? :)
