Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Radio Stations cut xmas songs on 26th?

    i remember about 10-15 years ago xmas songs were played right up to january 1st as in the whole xmas season. the last few years i havent heard them on radio after dec 25th, just be interesting to hear if there are any played on stephens day this year. i remember about 15 years ago the xmas song season on radio didnt kick off really til dec 13th or round that

    Yep they've commercialised Christmas to death. It starts Nov 1st and I believe that is what has ruined Christmas time traditionally lasting Dec 23rd to Jan 2nd or 3rd. People are just sick of it.

    Pity really Christmas used to be a much more special time of year than it is nowadays. If you want music after 25th you'll have to buy some Xmas songs or CDs but it's not the same you're going around in your Christmas bubble while others are already taking down their tree. BAH HUMBUG.

    yeah I agree. I actually wrote to several of the national radio broadcasters last year re the lack of christmas music after the 25th Dec but not a single reply.

    this is really strange, strangely i actually taped footage of this on a radiio station in the late 90s around dec 27th or 28th think it was 2fm flat out playing xmas songs. so when is the actual xmas holiday, i would have imagined it was from dec 23rd when most people finish work, up to january 2nd. thats my xmas anyway, i really dont be too bothered about xmas partying etc until after dec 25th then i kick off and have plenty of fun. my last xmas session is always january 1st. i love new years day!

    They were playing such terrible Christmas music in Tesco in Athlone last week that I actually asked the manager if he could turn it off. Much to my surprise, HE DID!

    Even before Halloween, christmas is advertised, i saw a lot afaik in Dealz first, i could have sworn i heard the late Tony Fenton play The Pogues - FONY, as someone emailed in to say that they had a crappy week & asked Tony to play it in Middle of Nov, i'm pretty sure.

    As i don't get ChristmasFM on my local radio, i only came across it by accident & have played it a few times when on here, but before i had a few compilations made up as some or most have dire versions of much loved songs, i mean you Ronan! & ur phony FONY!
