How many people paid for Harris's videos when he stopped doing them for free though

He touched on the reason his segment of drive went down the sub route in an interview with CarThrottle The modified stuff that Farrah does works fine cause the owners want their cars to be driven and seen on youtube, even if Farrah is saying its a heap. It's their 5 minutes of fame... Similar story with who ever the guy who does the muscle stuff on the Drive channel.

For Harris though, his videos require a far bigger budget because his they need to be seen to be top notch for Ferrari, McLaren etc to include him in launches and lend him cars etc, he had to go down the subscription route as Drive couldn't maintain his budget when he progresses from reviewing hot hatches to hypercars. I personally don't subscribe to his channel but I guess its the case of nothing worth having is free. He is delivering TV standard content so I guess you gotta pay for it! There plenty of average journalists making mediocre videos on youtube! The stuff Harris is doing is significantly better and no one is making videos of the same standard for free!

Do people ever learn? Exactly a week to the night (a week to the hour in fact) when a man was knocked down and killed because of being unlit/not visible on a road, I drive past a pedestrian who was in complete darkness. I was only about a foot, if even, from hitting him. Caught him in the corner of my eye and swerved the car as fast and hard as I ever have. What sort of retard does it take to walk on a dark country road, with absolutely no verges to step into with nothing to make him visible whatsoever. Especially seeing how someone died on the same road, about a mile away just 1 week ago. No wonder there's so many pedestrians being killed. Such an idiot.

I experienced an idiot on a bike recently dark wet night black coat no reflectors what so ever on the bike again only for I was really looking I wouldn't have seen him. I mean it's so sad when high visibility jackets are about 2 euro and you can get them for free in many cases. I feel like going around with 10 of them in the car and start to stop and throw them at these idiots as I see them. I mean there's a reason why so many places have compulsory wearing of high viz as they make a huge difference. The plant I'll be working in has compulsory wearing of high viz vests or coats (if raining) at all times and it's great IMO helps truck drivers / forklift drivers etc see you.

Yikes. I like the pouring stand, never saw one before.

Nearly 3 hours driving through limerick and kerry in the weather last night, a few cold ones were greatly anticipated and enjoyed.

Some interesting craft beers out there but sometimes you just want a cold crisp lager, Super Bock portuguese beer hot the spot nicely!

And we have snow. Not sure exactly where I am. Cork and Kerry mountains somewhere. Captain Farrell's neck of the woods

Baileys and whiskey I can understand. Would have thought the brandy would clash with the whiskey flavour in the Baileys itself.

Just checked the Cars & Parts For Sale Ireland group on Facebook and the boys are complaining about insurance going up again. That group is a funny read with lads saying they will drive without insurance and nobody will "lock everyone up for no insurance" :pac:

They even set up another group which will write a letter to the Dail :pac:
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/1718030591776500/?fref=ts

Maybe if they didn't drive remapped Passats scraping the ground they wouldn't have issues? Driving with no insurance just brings the price of insurance up...

I know insurance pricing is stupid but come on... How hard can it be to not buy a high risk car and build up your NCB before jumping into a high risk car?

In fairness, I was quoted between 3000-5000 from most companies that would actually give me a quote when I was starting off, on a 1l micra.

It's not just the high risk cars that are getting these mental quotes, it's all cars.

That's crazy money to be honest. Were you getting quotes online? I doubt you would be getting such quotes on the phone. €2500 maybe but not €5000 surely?

The highest quote I got was about €11,000 on 123.ie on my Yaris but I wouldn't count an online quote as a proper quote especially when you have a provisional licence and no NCB.

Micras aren't that low risk either though. It's the car of choice for many young lads starting to drive and they also used to get stolen quite a lot. I was getting €300~ cheaper quotes on my Yaris which was the reason why I went for a Yaris over a Micra in the first place.

Cars older than 15 years are considered higher risk (whether we like it or not) so there's no point crying about high quotes on a 1997 316i for example.

Driving uninsured is just stupid because you will end up driving the price of insurance even more.

Homeward bound finally. Work finished, Xmas shopping finished and slabs bought. Missed the annoyingly early family dinner though so a dirty Chinese is on the cards. Let the games begin!

Finally got the GTI spoiler fitted, makes a huge improvement in my eyes!

Might get a set of GTI taillights too, but not too pushed just yet.

If I get any more parts from a GTI Golf then I could nearly be entitled to change the badge from TDI to GTI :p:p

Also, what would people think about the rear-wiper being removed completely? Its completely seized at the moment so a whole new one is needed. Then I was thinking when do I ever use the rear wiper, and I find it kinda ugly with it there. If I removed it then would I have trouble with the NCT because its not there?

Well, my own Xmas gift was a CMax rear wheel bearing, those are usually 4 hours of swearing and skimmed knuckles, especially fun in a flooded garage. Already pissed off thinking about that.
Other than that, something blew in the engine compartment, when I put the foot down, I can hear galeforce wind under the bonnet, but only under load, just revving it doesn't do it, so air-intake/intercooler related, something leaky.
And have a slow puncture, so will get to try my plugging kit.
    Happy Xmas everyone!
