The first photo (of the 'wildflower meadow') is quite nice. Perhaps it needs a bit of cropping -- the photo, that is, not the grass.

I appreciate you're making quite a different point with the other two pix, though.

I do like the long grass, even in that photo behind the goal nets. 354554.jpgThink that's only an oversight that it's been left but do like it being there.
They cut the rest of the area with a tractor so obviously couldn't do that bit the same way.

The uprooted tree 354555.jpgwas just in the folder where I'd sent the resized images. It dates back a couple of months but seems to be a prevailing trend in the area. People keep uprooting or otherwise damaging plants locally. That shot was taken after coming out of the Africa Day celebration in the school

I didn't take it sonandheir but it was such a class shot I had to post it.

GIAF used a drone last year for some cool video clips, maybe they were using that this year too? or I wonder if it might have been shot from the Skywhale at some stage?

Were the wooden locks removed or did all the recent rainfall overwhelm them and wash them away?

    Removed by the Council/Waterways Ireland.

Considering they were never to be used again, I rather like the replacement...

Removed by council, WI have nothing to do with Corrib system.

They'll be replaced. The price is staggering compared to similar projects, questions have been asked as to why so expensive.

They'll never be used against but the powers that be insist on installing new lock gates.

Signs been there for months stating no watersports. What kind if an idiot would kayak so close to there in the first place? Or are you just trying to increase premiums for the rest of so you can line your pockets? This claim culture we've gained in recent years makes me sick

Shows the compo mentality of some people if that's the first thing that springs to their mind, almost as if they are scouting for an "accident"

I took this photo on the prom yesterday evening as I was very tickled by the guy standup paddleboarding with his dog. We tracked him from beyond the driving range up to Seapoint, they were going at quite a pace. The two of them looked so serene gliding along close to the shore, it was a lovely sight on a beautiful evening :).

Lovely pic. There was some Competition on Facebook there recently, it might be over now. Can't for the life of me remember who ran it or what the prize was but it was about fave things about Galway and lots posted pics of nice locations for hanging out around the City. That would have been a winning pic!

I was just coming on here to find the Galway is great on a Sunny Day Thread but too lazy to search! Fab day out there. Gorgeous blue sky! How could it not lift yer spirits! :) Still fine now.

OP - I'd re-upload that photo with a small copyright watermarkif you don't want it to be 'borrowed' by a local paper.

I have just recently visited Loch na fooey and my god it’s absolutely stunning. I’ve lived in Galway for 7 years and travelled around with my camera snapping away but never have I been taking back by the sheer natural landscape. So I thought why not create a thread share some of our favourite places to snap and shoot. I hope the attachment works I don’t think I can embed the picture on the mobile site.
