Static Routing on F2000 Router Modem - eir

I try to get a static route working to force the Chromecast DNS to use the DNS of the router.

I have done this in the past and it has worked fine.
However we had to reset the modem and the static routing is gone.

So I set this up again. However I either miss something or the rule is wrong.
Please see below:

The Rule for 8.8.4.4 is similar 192.168.1.254 is the Router itself

Anyone an idea what is wrong here?

Hi Dopsche - i'm also trying to setup static routing on the F2000 & your post came up on a search. Unlike your screenshot - i don't see any options on my router to configure this. I'm running the eircom firmware (V100R001C59B023). Do I need to reflash in order to get access to the routing & forwarding rules?

Bridge it and add a better router. You'd be surprised how much snappier you can make your connection with a router with a faster cpu. It's noticeable, even on ethernet you will feel a difference. I use a Mikrotik and I can also do other tricks like cache DNS so regular lookups get returned from the router. Instead of blocking Google DNS I have a rules redirecting traffic going from IPs on an address list (chromecast IP, will be adding more) to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to my smartDNS IPs 1 and 2

Bridge mode doesn't seem to be available in the menus for the F2000/ Huawei HG659b although the manual mentions that it is supported.
I have a proper router, a Linksys WRT1900AC and want to bridge to it.

Is the bridging option for the F2000 available from the full 'Admin' (capital A) account, rather than the regular 'admin' ?
I read on a NZ forum that this account existed but I don't have the password.

Is there firmware available that enables bridging?

Any info appreciated.

When it's connected and the interface is up go to the wan section and change the interface to bridge, save and it will reboot in bridge mode.

Thanks, here's what I did.

Internet -> VDSL WAN-1 -> Connection type = Bridged -> Save
Home Network -> Wireless Settings -> Disable 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz -> Save
Power off and on. It did not initially reboot in bridge mode.
I had to power cycle it several times before it would actually save the connection type as bridged.
Connect an ethernet cable to a port on the F2000 to check config as there is now no wifi.

So now it's double NATed but seems to work.
