What's the smallest petrol car that will pull a 4 berth caravan easy enough.

You need to compare the caravan weight to the cars towing capacity.

The number of berths is no indication of size or weight. There are light weight six berth caravans and heavy two berth ones.

For safety it is not recommended to tow a caravan which is in excess of 80% of the towing vehicles weight.
