I went for the RPHA 10+ after seeing Wonda-Boys review of it.Had a tough time tracking the Ben Spies edition down as they dont make em anymore.Wanted to get this helmet to go with the Ben Spies paint on the R1.:)

So thanks to Wonda-Boy for a good honest review of the helmet.:)

    Happy with the rearsets
Nope,Ducati decided that it would somehow be better if their 748,916 and 996 bikes were not able to idle in neutral with the side stand down.:pac:
That why I bought the sidestand bypass loom,so that I can warm her up on the side stand.:)

Are you leaving the gear change in normal order with the rearsets Stewy or will you turn them around a la track bike?

    Nice!!!
    Free visor?

I wish it came with a free tinted visor.
I ordered the dark tinted visor along with the helmet.

Also got blue and silver mirror tint visors from Crossans for the X 802r.
Cant get over how light this X-Lite is on my head, really noticeble.:)

Probably vibrate enough to make the flip up sidestand flip up :p

I always cover the top 1/4 or 1/3 of the visor with tape - you don't need it to look through and it keeps a lot of the sun off.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Must have been good for Santa,as this arrived today.
Also flew back up to Crossans to get some mirror tint visors for it.
Crossans did me a good deal on the pound to euro.Gave me 85 cents to the pound and also knocked a few extra quid off the price of the visors.

Thanks to Adrian and Collie in Crossans for that.:D

And the Ben Spies HJC RPHA 10 is a lovely fit, dare I say ever so slightly nicer of a fit than the X-Lite.:)
    Slightly heavier lid though.:(

Thats the carbon making the Xlite lighter, but both are cracking lids fair play. All you need now is a nice flip up for touring and the like and you sorted.....

Any recommendations for a flip up?
Something good but that wont break the bank.:)

    Shark Evoline is decent enough.
You really would want to try one one first as it will be a different shape to the helmets you've just bought.
Here's a Evoline 3 but you can get an Evoline 2 for under €200.

I just upgraded to the Shoei NXR from the XR-1100 as a Crimbo present to myself. I didn't want a Marquez (twat) or Smith (respect his riding but don't want that flag on my lid). It is a shame you can't get a Laverty replica. Anyway ended up with a Michael Dunlop replica and am happy out with the €180 discount.

I must admit I do notice the 300g weight saving and the size of the shell is noticeably smaller too.

I have the evo 3 absolute cracker of a lid served me so well in Germany and even Kerry during summer. New one is out now so the 3 should be cheaper.....can't rate it high enough but its a large lid very wide circumference.

Dear God man!! You know they do cable ties in black now? :)

I think I was looking at this before on youtube and the fella said it was about €60, but when I looked it was coming in at about a oner, which put me off.

    First impressions?

I've noticed some oil splashes on the tyre, I'd winde the controller back a bit.

Ill have a look for a more hidden place in the future. Its been sitting in my shed for over a year now and just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Ill give it a lash over the winter months to see how effective it is.

Im loving the Bike Gary. 70+ mpg is the main puller for me. It could do with been lowered by an inch tbh. Ill post a pic of the rear shock. Im not sure if it can be used to lower the bike.

Skill.. The spray spots is from when I added some manual chain loob. Ive white, green, yellow cable ties, no black:p

Here is the rear shock. It seem to be wound out. Does anybody know if unwinding it would lower suspension?

Your better off putting on lowering links/dogbones than screwing with the shock of preload

I have looked into it alright. I will most likely have to adjust forks also if go that route.

I went for a 25mm jack up kit from Lust Racing.
Will try to get fitted this evening or by the weekend.

spent about an hour yesterday swapping optimate tails between two bikes.. (the leads the optimate can hook into instead of direct clamps to the battery terminals, waterproof tamiya connector)

**** sake, getting the bolt on the +pos side on the zx6 nearly broke me

bolt is slightly too short to grab the nut in the battery terminal 'cage', so gets really short when you put another connection in. Coupled with the fact the battery is half under the rear of the tank (thankyouverymuch mr kawasaki), recipe for much expletives

Today I rode the Ducati for the 1st time in a while and had a quick lap of the airport on me way home.Roads were very wet greasy and a fair bit of diesel spilt on them too.

Which do you prefer driving Stewy?
    R1 or 996?

I love both because of their own different ways in how you ride them.
Ducati is very mechanical and feels alive under you.Lovely rumble from the V-Twin motor and termis.Very compact bike and very flickable.loads of torque very low down rev range, runs out of puff a bit higher up though.

R1 is balistic in how it accelerates (partly down to quick shifter and being mapped on dyno) and it feels very clinical and well engineered.

R1 is much bigger bike when compared to Ducati.
R1 is also louder than the Ducati, thats the full titanium Leo Vince system on it.
