What's the bottom price of a litre of petrol and diesel?

    Curious to figure this out.

    With all the taxes, duties etc and with noone taking awhat's the lowest price a litre of petrol/diesel go too?

    It's dependent on the oil price, say oil falls off the shelf down to 0.01c a barrel. The wholesale price is 10c. No profit margins to be included.

    What's the price at the pump with just government taxes etc.

    I believe some of the taxes are per litre and some are a percentage of sale price so the tax per litre will change alot if the oil cost was tiny versus high base cost

    Petrol has a duty of 58.77c/litre, then add on shop margin, + transport cost, + actual fuel cost, + importer costs, then all +23% = retail price.

    Working backwards,
    €1.30 - vat @ 23% = €1.06/litre
    - duty = 47c/litre
    - 5c* shop profit = 42c/litre
    - 5c* importer = 37c/litre
    - 5c* for misc others = 32c/litre

    *=estimated

    So with the refining costs and the oil companies costs to get it out of the ground, IMO the lowest it could go to is €1.20.
