redundancy

5 years ago we were asked to take reduced hours for middle Oct threw to middle March.was supposed.to be a temporary measure till 'company returned to profit'
Same scenario arises every year now.
I heard third hand that there mite be a case for redundancy.
Have been reading some stuff on CAI but fairly confusing...
Any ideas or suggestions on this??

For a job to be redundant means it it no longer required in the company.

Doesn't sound like that's the case here tbh

There is something thought about not being able to be put on short hours permanently, though.

You probably need to talk to a solicitor or union, OP.

Agreed, solicitor or union needed.

OP is not being put on permanent short hours though from the sound of it, it's seasonal from Nov/Dec to March

Yup...they specifically stated they were reducing our hours on a seasonal and temporary basis. "Until the company returned to profit making" was the wording iirc.
Will look for further advice,citizens info possibly.
