    I got a renewal quote, from the broker, for my car insurance with the same insurance company as last year. Nothing has changed.
    The cost increased by over 100%.
    :eek::eek:

    I was also given an alternative quote which only increased by 66%. :rolleyes:

    I expected a 30% rise or thereabouts but 66 to 100% is ridiculous. Only option is to shop around I suppose?

    Plenty of threads about it in the Motor forum and yes shopping around is your best bet. If your car is 13+ years old it appears to be additionally expensive / refused quotes.

    The car is only 3 years old.

    I have 3 quotes here in front of me for my combined fleet - in increasing order of cost (i.e. Cheapest first):

    2000 BMW 318i Touring
    2006 Saab 9-5 2.0 saloon
    2008 318d

    The oldest car is the cheapest to insure. So much for moving to a newer car to get a cheaper quote, the opposite seems to be true in my case at least. Bangernomics is looking rather attractive again.

    As per usual, there is no reason to stay loyal to insurers.
    Ring many brokers and insurers, there is a list here and have a look in this thread.

    And this search will help
